View Full Version : 5" x 7" - 8" x 10" Show?

In a effort to further promote what we are doing here. I'm thinking a 5x7... maybe 8x10 show might be easy..... I have a call into the Arts Garden in Indy. I have shown there. Right down town Indy. They have big inclosed cases they display art in. My thinking is.... depending on how many artist are interested..1 to 2 pieces per. Artist. Artist from the USA could drop a $20 in with their work to cover return shipping. I have a good number of pieces from some of you... if your interested in being in the show but don't want to mess with the shipping and its cool to display your work....let me know. No glass would be needed as the art would be on display inside the cases.. safe. Thoughts? Im also thinking of having something telling about our interest in starting ISSA? IT WOULDN'T BE AS MUCH WORK AS THE DEAN Johnson gallery show.. I havnt heard back yet from them but they told me they had more comments on my show than they have had in a long time. Who's interested... oh!!! I want to add.... I was NOT involved, in any way, with who made and didn't make the show last time BUT, depending on interest and space available.... I might have to this time... talk to me.

If it's after May I would be interested!

Since they are in enclosed cases, are you talking about framed or unframed boards? Unframed would be ok for me from Australia though I can't do the return post thing since it's in a different stamp currency. I could paypal someone the stamp money though.

I meant to say.... over seas artist could ship just the board/s...I can pop them into a frame...I have a ton of frames 8x10 ( for 5x7's) and 11x14 ( for 8x10)...
We could figure out what works for the out of USA artist....
Maybe mark up any pieces that might be for sale and give THAT $$ to the ISSA?
We can work out the details if it looks like its something we want to build on.

I'm in! When did you have in mind?
04-13-2011, 01:39 AM
I would love to be in but I guess it would depend on when it was. I have nothing new that size as I have been out of small boards for quite some time now. I will have to hold off on confirmation that I'm in until more details have been ironed out!

I'm in. I wouldn't miss a Rodman Show. He had a formal show two years ago that had people standing in the street waiting for some one to leave so they could get in and last year's informal show in the barn was a blast. It too had so many people show up I was amazed. Indy is an art place and Rod definitely knows his shows. :D

I'd like to be in on this too - my challenge portrait is one of my best if you could pursuade 'theBoardlady' Diane to send it to you?

Just a suggestion since Rod already mentioned a portion of sales could benefit ISSA . . . what if we say 20% of any sales goes to ISSA?
20% is a reasonable amount, it's for a great cause, and that commitment really helps put the focus on ISSA.

Let me think about it......
YES!!!!!! I'm in! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Is not-quite-so-new work okay Rod? How about Whiteboards (in which case is 6x6 = 5x7?).

No word from the Arts Garden yet. I might still have her email. Look at all this talent joining forces!!!! If anyone knows what they might be sending. ....Or a example of a small board.. How about emailing it to me? I might toss a handful in the email. Artist name and location too, in email. Let's get the ball rolling I feel like they will have to jump at the chance to have this show. I'm up to bat... let's see what happens. You guys rock! [email protected]
put "art" in the subject line please
04-14-2011, 08:21 PM
Doc... no worrying .... sure, I just want it to be small works for ease of handling.
I will say, I would really like it ...if it was Ampersand boards only being sent.

I talked with them... they want me to submit a proposal. She said they are booked thru this year. I would still like to get it nailed down... send me one or two images of small work and let's shock them with the talent here.
04-15-2011, 11:57 AM
