After a couple of portraits, I missed my feline friends, so I began an 11x14 board of an ocelot... about 5 hours into this one.

Hector...he had it until it died of natural causes but I don't know how long that was. It sure was a beautiful animal. I used to have a pic of it, I'll see if I can find it.

04-14-2011, 02:45 AM
Irfan, you had requested a close up of the eye. Here it is.
I haven't made any other progress since my last post. Working 12-14 hour days...ugh!
04-14-2011, 03:58 AM
Great start. Fur texture very well rendered . Looking forward to updates.
05-14-2011, 08:03 PM
It's been over a month since I've posted any kind of update to anything. I feel so unproductive. Why do I have to have a job?!?
I spent a couple of hours today on the ocelot, and I'm happy with the way it's turning out.
More updates (hopefully) very soon.

Looking great Hector - lovely fur rendition.
05-14-2011, 10:07 PM
I know what you mean about working all of the time Hector, and our art suffers because of it. Better days are ahead, I hope. Your ocelot is looking very good.
05-14-2011, 10:37 PM
Looking very good Hector I love the eye. The ocelet has a certain innocence about his look. He looks so innocent.

Brilliant work Hector!
05-15-2011, 06:06 PM
Looking really great Hector! I wonder what she's looking at (cats are girls and dogs are boys until I'm told otherwise.) ...a bird, a butterfly, lunch??
I looked through all my photos and couldn't find a pic of the cat.
05-15-2011, 06:33 PM
I love it when your threads are updated
05-15-2011, 07:16 PM
That is a wonderful looking ocelot!
05-15-2011, 10:02 PM
Beautiful update. The fur on the back is wonderful. Will you be putting anything on the other side of the board or leaving it blank. Maybe some big long whishers?
05-15-2011, 10:25 PM
Lesley, yes. The long whiskers are coming! I had struggled with that same question before: I thought about adding perhaps some insect or arachnid on a branch or leaves, but I decided not to add anything to the left of the board. I wanted to leave that question (also raised by Lorna) unanswered.
Lorna, thanks for looking for the pics. I appreciate it.
Steff and Artmutt, thank you both.
Patrick, what a nice thing to say!
05-15-2011, 11:23 PM
Very impressive, Hector. Cool texture on the back fur.
Do you plan on using your airbrush on this piece?
05-15-2011, 11:38 PM
You are making fine progress here. Great image.
05-19-2011, 11:11 AM
