Hi guys, companion piece to one I did before. They are so full of character that I hope I captured some of it.

You certainly did capture the character in this Patrick, fabulous work.

I love this one Patrick, you certainly did catch the character. When I first opened the page, the little guy made me chuckle. Love his eyes.

That is awesome Patrick!!
04-06-2011, 09:55 AM
Outstanding character treatment as usual.

This has lots of character for sure. They will make a great set!

Commenting on this again!! Fantastic work!!

Patrick, I'm chuckling, too. Fantastic feathers and eye. I am jealous about the long, long eyelashes but not the hairdo.
04-06-2011, 12:27 PM
Patrick, great piece, you did capture the character for sure, looks good.
04-06-2011, 12:58 PM
Patrick - he makes me happy! As for the hair, he has the same cowlicks I do when my hair is short :)
Truly an exquisite clown.

I love it! A great character to match the other piece, extremely well done...especially that eye!
04-06-2011, 05:12 PM
A great looking Emu!!!
04-06-2011, 05:22 PM
Very cute Patrick, just love those lashes.
04-06-2011, 05:46 PM
Mission accomplished ... tons of fun to look at.
04-06-2011, 08:29 PM
Very funny. Air brush then scratch?
04-06-2011, 09:26 PM
Many thanks guys :)
Yes, the "hairstyle" and eyelashes are something else. As for Terri and Sammy, I personally just wish I had more hair to work with
Lorna mentioned the other piece. It'll hopefully eventually be a tryptich
04-06-2011, 09:40 PM
Very nice! They, like ostriches do have so much character and cuteness.
04-06-2011, 11:27 PM
Third one should have a goofy grin or an angelic expression. One of my most favorite comedy skits of all times was how to wash an emu! Love these guys.
04-06-2011, 11:39 PM
Many thanks :)
Karen, you mean an angelic expression like this?
  I found that on the net - very clever editing
04-06-2011, 11:42 PM
Guffaw!!!!That would explain the expression on the other two.
04-06-2011, 11:52 PM
Really like your work. Do you enjoy working on the white board?
04-07-2011, 12:30 AM
Ah so it's white board. i was going to ask. Nice work Patrick. This is going to make an awesome tryptich. Love it. When u going to do the final one?
04-07-2011, 03:04 AM
Many thanks :)
Actually Lesley and DonnaRae, it's blackboard with the outside bits removed by steel wool and then fg brush. I add the extended feathers back in with a pen and then fade them out to suit with the fG brush.
04-07-2011, 04:17 AM
Patrick, have you tried using rubbing alcohol to remove the black...it works just great!
04-07-2011, 05:39 AM
Cool idea Lorna, thanks :)
04-07-2011, 05:54 AM
Just hafta say, emus are sooo weird!! I remember as kids, long before the "do not feed the animals" signs went up at our local zoo, we would feed them peanut shells. We'd laugh and laugh at how dumb they were to eat the shells with no peanuts . . . * snicker *
Great job capturing their odd look and textures, Patrick!

Patrick, both your Emu are fantastic, love their personalities. Can't wait for the third one.
The one you posted with the Angelic expression broke me up into laughter, love it... and your humour. Gail
04-07-2011, 12:29 PM
I LOVE these guys!! Are you done with the third yet?
04-07-2011, 02:04 PM
So cool Patrick! Both are so comical. Your angelic expression photo isn't showing up for me so I'll have to wait till you do the third. Hope it's soon. This is great.
04-08-2011, 09:13 PM
Thanks guys :)
Diana, I was going to wait but I will start the third one soon
04-08-2011, 09:45 PM
