View Full Version : Bring It On (companion elk) FINISHED

I found a fabulous photo by Bobbie Eierman on Flickr who graciously allowed me to use it of a bugling elk. I decided to do it as a companion piece to the first one (Let's Rumble). It is 9x12 Ampersand board. Some might wonder why the youngster would want to take this big guy on, but that youngsters for ya. Critiques welcome! I'm not sure if I should make the grasses in the foreground any larger than they are... I had to scan in top then bottom to show everything, so I've shown both as I couldn't combine them correctly.

Lovely piece Lynn. Those antlers are awesome indeed.
I am a little confused where the light is coming from though. It lools to be coming from the left of the board as his nose is highlighted but the shadow from his legs seems to be coming from the right of the board. I would be moving the shadow to the right of the board and lightening the grass on the left if that makes sense.

Good spot by Lesley, but gee, good scratching too!! Those antlers look heavy!

I have heard them bugle on a October night when the moon was full. This picture gives me chill bumps. Good job.
