View Full Version : 'Waiting' - WIP Great Blue Heron

Started this on the weekend, still loads to do, but I have all the feathers basically roughed in. Reference form the RIL, and I have to look it up again to see who's pic it is.
Size is 8x20, all done using me scalpel, and a hint of use of the FB.
cc's most welcome.

He didn't have a highlight in his eye, so I added one but not sure if it is place in the right spot.

Found it, the reference was taken by Ceiliog.

Pete's got some really good photos in the library. This is an excellent one but you've well and truly done justice to it. I'll bet he'd like a link to this thread if you haven't already done so :)

I love the size!!

03-31-2011, 01:02 AM
Thanks Patrick, how do I do the link you mentioned?

03-31-2011, 02:02 AM
Hey Wendy. You've outdone yourself on this. I love the light and shade you have created and the feathers and beak are beautifully scratched. Frame it and hang it!!!

03-31-2011, 03:13 AM
Wendy, you copy the address of this thread (at the top in your browser, the whole http thing) and then open this link (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/member.php?u=9270) which is ceiliog's profile, and send him a pm telling him you've done it and pasting the link so he can just click it. It's not compulsory but people love to see what artists have done with their photographs

Thanks Patrick, I did send him a PM, but I thought you had a different forum to post in and wasn't sure how to do that.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments, they sure are appreciated. Well worked on this some more last night....more work done on the feathers on the wing and chest area. Still loads to do. I just scanned what would fit, as I didn't have time to stitch two pics together.

Wendy--your scratch work is superb and this piece is going to be a real winner.

04-01-2011, 06:31 PM
Thanks everyone for the comments, I really appreciate you taking the time to have a boo.

Venkat, as much as I would love to color this, just the thought scares the heck out of me. I have colored one piece along time ago, a bird as well and it was okay, but not what I would call a great job of coloring.

More of an update, may not look much different than the last one though. Still working on the feathers, and the feathers, and feathers.
It is showing a wee bit dark, and I didn't scan the whole image, too lazy to stich two pieces again.

Patrick: I finished the feathers:clap: Now I think I will call this finished please.

Rod: I will definatly do prints on this one, I have my white tiger and the iguana at the printers now, so when they come back, this one will go, but first it will be in a local show for a few weeks.......

Harold, Harry and Angela, thanks guys.

Well I finally did a whole scan:lol: , and I think I will call this done, unless you see something that is not reading right let me know.
