I've been watching this forum for forever, and I've been dying to try doing scratchboard, it was hard to find supplies! I gave up and started on the really thin cheap paper, while waiting for my scratchboards in the mail. Here is the result of my first attempt - I also tried to add some ink back on the spots I scratched off too much of the thin paper, that's why it is a bit smudged... please give some c & c so I can improve next time...it is a photo - I couldn't get my scanner to work.. got the reference from the library!

This is wonderful start, particularly on paper. You will see a big difference with Ampersand boards.

This is amazing! Especially so when you consider that it done on the paper and not a board. I can't give you any kind of advice on working with this paper because you have done so much better than I when I tried this stuff. I can't wait to see what you do with the boards....there isn't any comparison, its night and Day. When you get your hands on the boards your gonna be in heaven!

It's a great piece. You'll be amazing in no time.

You did great! I can't believe it's on regular paper! and you didn't end up ripping into it. If you can do that on paper you'll have a masterpiece on board in no time

Great job! I have never used paper. Always Ampersand only because I had never heard of the paper before. But I am glad I did. You will notice such a difference with the boards. You have done really well for your first scratch piece.

Only thing I would look at is the eyes. The pupils may be a little too small and could be a little more defined. But it is hard to say without seeing the reference. The fur work is excellent!! Look forward to some more works from on on Ampersand.

Glad you decided to take the plunge. This is really nice, first piece or not. I would only suggest that the wiskers be a little straighter but it looks great to me.

Very impressive!! I only tried to use the scratch paper one time and had no success at all. You will love the Ampersand boards for sure.

Thanks again everyone ! It is because of all of you I tried this - all your work is very inspiring! - I did get some Ampersand boards - the hard part is deciding what to do (too many ideas to count!)
