Very nice work! Is it a Red Tailed Hawk? I was just recently photographing some Birds of Prey and they had a Falconers' museum that had alot of the "hoods" that the falconers used, as you have depicted in this painting.

yep its a depiction of a red tail hawk. The coloration and pattern on the birds is so complex that i have a really hard time making it more realistic. The falconer museum sounds amazing, where is it/whats it called?
The research I have done on the topic always amazes me, how people can use birds to catch live game. Its pretty cool

The falconer's museum is called the "Archives of American Falconry" and is in Boise, Idaho on the property of The Peregrine Fund- World Center for Birds of Prey. The Peregrine Fund has about a dozen or so birds of prey and I was there for 3 days photographing the various birds (Harpy eagle, American Kestrel, Bateleur Eagle, etc.). I know it helped me to see the actual birds up close so I could accurately depict them in my paintings.
Very beautiful !
Great colour and detail.
