I was working on four boards at once and then finished this one. I am down to three.
My husband was taking pictures at the reception of one of the shows I am in and this little girl really struck me. I got permission from her mom to use it for a board and here it is. 8x10.

Diana...I think the wrong picture showed up...it's the same as the Fishface one.

Diana, you make all of us aspiring portrait artists to want to hang it up. This is really really really good.

Really lovely Diana...have you shown it to her and her mom yet?

Thank you Karen.
Thanks Patrick, Yeah, I figured that out and changed the name.
Thank you Harry, that means a lot coming from you.
Thanks Lorna. It's kinda funny her mother and I exchanged several e-mails and she said she would like to see it when it is done. I sent her an image and I have had no response.

Oh my!! Check that skin out!!! Wowwie!

Only you can manage to take a snapshot and turn it into an amazing art piece! Brava!! :D

PS - I have no idea why but in a way this photo makes me think of what Cathy might have looked like as a little girl and I wonder if it was anything like this girl. I know, I'm weird.

Thanks Rodman!
Thank you DonnaRae!
Patrick, you made me think of someday trying to make an entire board smooth using a scalpel as an exercise. "shudder"
Yeah, Sandra, you are weird, but you're my kinda weird!

Diana, wish I had the vocabulary to offer something worthy. Your scratchwork is so unbelievable.

I agree, that is the first person I thought she looked like as well.....too wierd.

Another great one Diana, boy you are just on a scratching roll...way to go.

Beautifully smooth skin again Diana. Beautiful moody expression on her face.

Add horns and a pitch fork and title it: Young Cathy

Meant to add that this is a wonderful piece for us beginners to learn from. The eyes and the crop are so well done.

she has that Wednesday look [the girl from the Addams Family movie]:lol::lol:

03-21-2011, 09:39 AM
She doesn't look too happy in the photograph, but the portrait is just stunning!!

03-21-2011, 11:03 AM
Your portrait looks EXACTLY like the photo!! That is just amazing.

This has the Lee stamp all over . Very well crafted eyes . you have captured the likeness even though the reference lack details, being very small .

Beautiful, beautiful work Diana. I've been watching for the past hour to see if she would blink her eyes, I think she did.

03-21-2011, 02:12 PM
She reminds me of Cathy also. Hopefully mom will get back to you its a very nice image.

Stunning work!

I am speachless. The eyes are so good. You have captured the moisture in them so perfectly.

Aw, Harold, Thank you!
Thanks Wendy, it will be interesting to see what Cathy thinks, or maybe her family.
Thank you Lesley!
Rod, you are so gonna get it! Especially in your weakened state!
Thanks Robert, there are others that have said that, including my husband.
Thank you BethAnn! It's funny that I was drawn to her angry expresion, but when I scratched her I didn't like it I toned her down a bit to a more neutral expression. Kid of a "Fill in the Blank" expression for the viewer.
Thanks Brett. I was hoping it would look like her since I know her mother. I heard from the mother and they will both be coming to the show I intend to put this in.
Venkat, thank you for noticing that! My husband says that's one of the qualities he likes best about my work, the ability to fill in details that aren't in the reference.
Thanks Mark, now I'm afraid to look at her!
Thanks Angela!
Thank you Greg!
Agreed Wendy!
Thanks Irfan, I thought that too, cool!
Thank you, Fay!
Thank you Allan! One hint for hair is that it is very easy to over-do hair. This truely is a case of less is more.
