View Full Version : Plein Air "Munn Park"-Lakeland,Fl

03-15-2011, 12:02 PM
This is my first attempt at Plein air with a black board. Three and a half hours inn on this. An additional thirty minutes to steel wool out the sky and dob some color in at home. This is a 16" X 20". Rodman makes this look much easier than it is! :envy: So much has been scribbled in as place holders and will be detailed as the process continues,I hope.
I am leaving as soon as I complete this post to continue the process. This is a small one block park right in front of our local art group, hence the name "Arts on the Park".

Try bigger shot.

Thanks Greg, I will keep at it.

Thanks Diana, I am enjoying it.

Thank you Jenny

Just got back, this is another four hours. I plan to add some color in the areas ready tonight and go back tomorrow. I am glad I tried to identify everything yesterday. The bushes around the monument are gone today. They are/were roses and have been cut back for the new growing season.

I had many folks stop to watch(made me quite nervous) but I sent many of them that did not know it was there to the art gallery. The art director bought my lunch. WOW a paying gig.

edit: I just noticed how poor the quality of the photo is, sorry I will try to get a better one to update after I add some color. Rick

A paying gig indeed...that's the least he could do.

This is fantastic! And to do it in front of others would be nerve racking for me. Very nice.

03-16-2011, 05:19 PM
So cool!! There is a ton of detail in this one! Can't wait to see this with some color.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to this. I will update tomorrow.

I have done one more session since the last update but I am at school now so I cannot put the image. I plan to do the final on-site work tomorrow morning so this will be completed by the end of the day tomorrow. Rick

Ill check back in...

This looks great. Do you scratch in the park and then colour it at home. What are you using for colour if I might ask? I am a closet painter but I might try my nerve at painting in the car.

Rick I like what ya got going here  I'll be back to see the grand finale! :D

I finally got back to the park to finish this one. I wish I had picked a better defined subject but this was such a learning experience. Thanks for all the comments and here are the final updates on this. Rick
