Hi everyone; I have just completed a claybord painting of a snow leopard. Tambako fron flickr was kind enough to let me use one of his fabulous pictures: www.flickr.com/photos/tambako/4298153371/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tambako/4298153371/) I also posted it there. I am open to any c & c. I am always pleased with a painting as soon as it is done but get more critical as time goes on. There is always room for improvement. I do not plan on mucking about with this painting but I will store the advice given for the next painting. There will always be a next one because I love using scratchboard and I am also a big lover of the big cars. Hope you like it! Tambako is a great photographer and a very generous man! I have used his work before.
This is great, very regal looking! What size is it and what did you use to paint it?

Thank you for compliments and I always forget to add the info. The size is 16x20 and I used claybord ink. I used to use watercolour but I find it too washed out looking such as the donkey that I posted previously.

Great reference from Tamby and you have done a beautiful job in rendering it. The fur looks so soft I want to run my fingers through it. Well done

There will always be a next one because I love using scratchboard and I am also a big lover of the big cars.
What, like Hummers, 4 wheel drives etc? What's that got to do with snow leopards?
Sorry, me being naughty
Well I think this is very special. You've used that fibreglass brush to prefection on the body fur and the eyes are outstanding. Excellent work!!

Well Patrick, they do both purr and are good in the snow ha ha! Thank you for the praise from all of you. I have checked out many of your posts and like very much what I see. I hope you are being honest with me because I can then assume that I did a good job. You know how it is I am sure, you get so involved in the thing that you don't know any more what is good or bad. Quite frankly I find painting extremely stressful, but in a good way. I will never stop until "I" stop.

I just found this one. I love it. Nice thick looking fur and beautifully colored.

Tigress....excellent subject...what a great pose. You handled the project very well. I'm happy to hear your loving working on this surface...i think that always comes out in the art...it's clearly obvious here.
Love what you created Tigress...it's just great! :)

Thank you Rodman,Sue and Lynn.It feels so good to get compliments. Too much use of that fiberglass brush,I guess but I did not know how else to make him look soft and fluffy like the reference photo.

I want to reach out and cuddle him! You've done a great job of making him look so soft!
