I too had some Esdee board lurking in my pile. I decided to try it out since it is easier to cut and I'm thinking of doing a series of birds that I've photographed at our local reserve. Just wanted to experiement. I thought it worked out well. In some ways it makes me not get too detailed in the sense that I don't go over and over an area. I know with fur its nice to have the layers but my husband keeps encouraging me to keep them simple and I do agree with the birds. I'm not sure if I can spray it. I tried a sample and it seemed ok. Has anyone sprayed an ESdee board? I know I can frame it and protect it but the spray with clayboard seems to get rid of blemishes. At any rate here it is from my own photo. This is a Common Yellowthroat although I think they are rather beautiful not common. I ordered some new Esdee board to play around with.

Angela I have used Esdee and did an eagle on one, used color and I sprayed it with the Krylon gloss spray, turned out great and it did remove the finger prints as well.

Lovely work Angela. I used to only use EssDee since it's so easy to get here. I struggle to blend with it but it's still a good product.

I have sprayed plenty of Essdee and it works fine and takes most of the blemishes out. It is a paper based product so it will get some oil from your hands if yo don't protect it while scratching. Since I have found Ampersand I haven't used any of it, it is much harder to work with and not forgiving at all. Gives you very little room to correct and rework.

Very nice Angela. I have an Essdee board around here somewhere. Based on your success, perhaps I'll give it a try.

I used to use only Essdee, back when they had their professional grade. I liked it, and it sprayed well.

Thanks Rod, Lesley, Lorna, and Brett. Well gave it a spray with Krylon gloss and turned out fine. Thanks for the feedback on spraying the board. I've started another little guy all ready.

Just noticed the spraying seems to have darkened it quite a bit if the screen is true.
