I have always believed this painting, Flaming June was done by Lord Frederic Leighton. Now I have seen it credited to Edmund Blair Leighton . It looks far more like Frederic's work than its Does Edmund's. I was wondering if anyone aware of which one it was. Without contradictory evidence I have strong reasons to believe it is Frederic and from what I remember from University, being many many moons ago LOL, it was a Lord Frederic Leighton painting. I would also appreciate if anyone could lead me to information or knew if they were related. I know Edmund's father Charles was a painter and sculpture but unaware or have forgotten and relationship between Edmund and Frederic. And any research I have done strongly leads the painting to Frederic and some places have given credit to Edmund, which I believe is wrong. So thanks in advance ....

Greetings:
Flaming June was printed on the cover of Apollo magazine in February of 1996. It was credited to Frederic, Lord Leighton, 1830-1896.
Nearly the entire issue was devoted to Leighton, including two articles which discussed this painting in particular. There is (or at least, was) controversy about who modelled for the painting, and the magazine claimed that the model was the heretofore obscure Mary Lloyd.
This is the most recent information I have concerning this painting, and I'd be interested in hearing if new information concerning its author has been found.
Keith.

Keith, I did a search and Flaming June is in the Museo de Arte de La Ponce, in Puerto Rico.
It appears that THEY attribute it to Lord Frederic Leighton, but you may want to dig deeper:

Definately Frederic,
Don't know how to put a link on, but here's an address where you can find his preparatory sketches.
