Ruth....I DON'T SEE THOSE COLORS IN THERE....but it can't just be white.....so I have to chose something for shadow.....and since I love purple....well....it becomes obvious.

;)

Thanks for looking, all

It really helps

if it's not too late....don't lighten that line....it makes a nice separation.

I really like the distortions of the plate through the glass!!! great contrasts and fresh colours too.

Don't know how you do it, but sure glad you do it. My favorite type of composition - complexity and magic in simple shapes.

I love the little flowers on the plates. I am as confused as others how you did to the glasses. Have seen you do it before, I know this will turn very great. I will be back again to check.

So nice of you to do these WIP's to break the steps down for us.

I never thought I would attempt glass cause I had no idea where to begin. Then , by accident, last week I stumbled on a glass painting workshop (thought it was just a regular painting night with my art club).
Anyway, you did exactly what the instructor said - so you definitely know what you are doing!
Just for interests sake - she said - first look for all those white reflections and mask them out , then for the glass - you achieve that by painting the colours you see in the glass - that's why you should always have something near by to reflect in it. She also said it should be quite soft - not too many hard edges.
I loved your comment that you said you didn't see those colours but had to put them in - that's what my instructor said too - that you really have to exaggerate the colours. One other thing she did too that really made my glass pop at the end was to add a few dark broken lines of a blue mix around some edges.
Anyway, I'm a rambling here - but loved your WIP as it reinforced what I just learned. BTW - I liked the results of my glass but had difficulty doing the daffodils:( - so it's infinished while I try and master daffodils - LOL

A big thank you
Bre

WOW!
I looked at your ref photo and immediatley though.......HELL! What a difficult piece to tackle!
I think you tackled it perfectly and I love the result. I like glass, it's sparkle always seems to add something special to a painting and this painting is looking very special Pampe.....WD!

Alright, well seeing as I seem to be the only one who hasn't commented on this one (I have NO idea how I could've missed this thread??), I thought I'd chime in.

Pam, this is absolutely STUNNING!! Such a great WIP also, I am still in awe at how you can bring so much translucentness (is that a word?) with just a few colors. Simply amazing!

I really love the composition too. Nice job!!

LOL! Well, tomorrow, I will try to pick out the best of the messes; however, when it comes to watercolor, I am definitely not in the same league with all the talent I've seen here!

Maybe if I hang out here long enough, some of it will rub off on me? LOL! Wishful thinking!
