I have had difficulty keeping up with all the posts lately and there has been some great work which unfortunately, I haven't commented on all. Well this is my second scratchboard for this year, a 12" x 12" and prior to this I decided to try out my oils paints after many years of not using them, plus I am painting a small teddy bear rocking chair for my 12 months old grandson...so am keeping out of trouble.

This is Maggie, permission to use the photograph was given and I added the butterfly to create some interest.

I think this is really great! I think if it were mine I might have added a tiny bit of that butterfly color in the eye but either way it's beautiful. Great job!

Judy, this is wonderful. You mentioned oil. Is this a combination of oil painting and scratching?

Wonderful. There is curiosity in the dog's eye. I love it.

Marcia: Thank you - I gave your suggestion some thought and decided that the butterfly was too far away for the colour to be reflected in the eye, my other half agreed on this as well.....I am wondering what others think!

Rod: Thank you for the lovely compliment.

Aaces: Thank you too! I like the buckle on the collar. :)

Harry: No this isn't a combination of oil painting and scratching...I'm not that clever. I started painting with oils many years ago and have been wanting to get back into painting with them, so I think I'll do some scratching and then painting ....you can see the paintings at the link below......"After the Rain" and "Salisbury Iris"....if you click onto each picture it will tell you about them.

Lesley: Thank you.

Cathy: Thank you very much, guess you know by now I love cute pics, especially of dogs.

Lynn: Thank you and glad you like it.

Superb!!! Your next job is to do one from the front with the butterfly nearer and the dog going cross-eyed

Oh Judy how great of a pic. I had a Springer named Maggie, and she looked just like this when she was young. Brings a tear to me eye, in a good way.

Patrick it takes me long enough to do eyes as it is, let alone doing a cross-eyed dog.   Thank you anyway.

Thank you Lorna......I'm a softie where dogs are concerned, just can't resist them!

Thank you Wendy, I can relate to what you are saying :crying: especially when it concerns Boxer dogs.

Venkat: Thank you.

Love what you have accomplished here Judy. Such a lovely piece. I think Marcia had a good suggestion too, the added colour in Maggie's eye would make for a deeper relationship or mmmmmmmm connection I guess is what I'm trying to say. At any rate this is a Beautiful heart tugging piece. I have a soft spot for both Puppies and Butterflies! :)

This is wonderful!! Of course, I'm a little biased because I had a Springer Spaniel named Maggie when I was a kid, too. :) She would get a look on her face just like that! Aawww!

Wonderful piece and as the owner of Maggie I can honestly say her character has been perfectly captured in this exquisite work of art.
