Lovely Alan. Beautiful expression and fur. Maybe you could do Goldilocks next!

02-15-2011, 10:16 PM
Cool idea, cool bear, really cool scratchwork.

02-15-2011, 11:11 PM
You've really got that arm fur down! And the muzzle is looking awesome! You should do a goldilocks next

Patrick...It took quite awhile to get him in that pose...he didn't follow my directions to well :D This is the same bear that I did on the 9X12, from the Denver Zoo. I've got a couple good shots of the other bear that was there as well. I might use one of them for the next one.
Harry...Thanks! Hopefully I'll get to work on it tonight. I didn't sleep too well today so I'm feeling like this bear looks
Lesley...Thank You! I'm still not happy with my fur work...to me it lacks depth...of course I've had close up looks at works from Cathy, Cristina, Harold, Lorna, Patrick...and others, so my goal is set pretty dang high
Harold...Cool? Cool! :D Hopefully it's stay that way! Thanks buddy :D
Jessica...Thanks!:D Goldilocks? um.........skin?.......um........no!
I'll leave that, to those who can do that sort of thing! For me, the hairier, the better!

Love your bear, Allan...that would be a good series.

BTW...doing skin would be the same as doing sharkskin.:D

"BTW...doing skin would be the same as doing sharkskin.:D"

Lorna Have you noticed I haven't done another shark?
One of these days I'll give it a serious go.....maybe....

I love series .... I think you should add a 11x14 ( Boo-boo)...a16x20 ( Yogi )and a 18x24 ( Smokey)

I absolutely LOVE the composition! You know, you could even stop now and it would work. I am eager to see where you go with this.

I like the pose and attitude vividly brought out by the expression in the animal's eye.

02-16-2011, 02:43 PM
Allan I really like your bears....love their fur. Makes me want to run my hands through the fur...wait thats a bear I might not want to do that. :)

02-16-2011, 05:33 PM
Well...here's another 2 hours of scratching. It doesn't look like I did much
but I did :D I re-inked the snout, attempting to get more depth and detail, and I might do another layer of inking/scratching. We'll see. I want to get more of the fur on the face....where I haven't worked yet, so I can see the tonal balance better....woah...kind of sounds like I know what I'm doing!:lol:

Rod...Those sizes are in centimeters...Right? A Buddy at work asked "what's with you doin' all these bears?" I told him....I dunno

Diana...Thanks! I wish I could say I really worked hard on the composition...but actually...It happened by accident. I didn't have an 8x10, the original size I wanted to do this in...I had already planned to do it on that size and had it worked up and ready...but only had 5x7's...and I was too lazy to rework/re-size it...This was the only way I could get the detail in the eye and fit most of his face in there :D

Venkat...Your comment means a lot to me! Capturing the expression in his eye was/is my MAIN concern and goal. I'm glad you said it worked...so far :D

Angela...Thank You! I also would love to have a chance to do that!!! Well...do that and STILL have a hand....and arm...and be breathing... and not be his lunch

Anyways...as usual...Thanks for your kind words and for looking :D
C&C if you see something to C&C too!

This is wonderful Allan. You have great depth in the muzzle.

02-17-2011, 09:21 PM
Thanks Lynn :)
I've spent another couple of hours on it. Still layin in the ground work layers.
This little one is taking as much time as the Big one
More tonight...good news is tonight is my last night of work for TWO weeks!

Rick...It is good to see you back on line more! Thanks for the nice words
Wendy...Thank You! :D I'll take Fab any day of the week
Pamela...Thank You! :D (I like your bears better!)
Lynn...Thank You! The eye is my favorite part of this, so having you say you like it as well....well it just makes my day

This is my first layer finalized...now on to a light ink wash and more scratching!

This will probably be the last up-date till I get back from Vacation... Gotta pack...have my will notarized...take that "how not to look like a fish so I don't get eaten by a shark while snorkeling" class ...you know...all that stuff.
I'll be checkin' in every once in awhile whilst I'm away though.

Your bear looks so cuddly. I really like how its cropped and the way you have portrayed the long hair on the paws.
Have a great holiday.
