I am developing this 16x20" painting from a photo one of my fellow artists took at a workshop. I am showing the underpainting in burnt sienna with my gridlines

and the initial color wash-in I did today.

It's in oils, and it might take me another 2-3 sessions to complete. The wash-in was done just to establish the color scheme, it's very thinned oils with turps. The trailer behind the horse/people is a very nice, fiery red IRL, but I believe it would take away from the action/focal point, so I decided to do it in a more subdued burnt sienna.
Any comments are welcome! Thanks Ruth

Hi Ruth,
Nice progress so far. This looks like it will have some awesome light in it. The figure on the right looks a little stalky compared to the horse...maybe thinning that one down a bit would add to the scale of the horse. So far great job!!

John and Scott, thanks for the comments, I will definitely post progress, unfortunately haven't had time yet.
Ron, thanks for the comment, it was a quite bulky lady, but I will tone her down to showcase the largeness of the horse, good idea!
Thanks for the compliment, Ralph.
