Les Nabis were a Parisian group of Post-Impressionist artists and illustrators who became very influential in the field of graphic art. The core of Les Nabis was Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Ker Xavier Roussel, Felix Vallotton, and Edouard Vuillard.
Their emphasis on design was shared by the parallel Art Nouveau movement. Both groups also had close ties to the Symbolists.
Edouard Vuillard (1868–1940) The illustrious career of spanned the fin de siècle and the first four decades of the twentieth century. During that time, the French painter, printmaker, and photographer created a large number of extraordinary works and full range of his renowned artistic abilities.
Pierre Bonnard [French Nabi Painter, 1867-1947 was a part of the Les Nabis movement. Vuillard, Édouard , 1868–1940, French painter and lithographer; a member of the Nabis. He is known for his scenes of Montmartre and especially for his canvases that evoke the quiet intimacy of home life.
Denis, Maurice (môres´ dene´) 1870-1943, French painter and writer on art. His paintings, usually on religious themes, have not proved so influential as his art theories. As the spokesman for symbolism and for the Nabis , Denis proposed his famous definition of painting: “Remember that a picture, before being a battle horse, a nude, an anecdote or whatnot, is essentially a flat surface covered with colors assembled in a certain order.” In 1919, Denis attempted to revive the teaching of religious art and cofounded the Studios of Sacred Art. His writings include Théories (2 vol.; 1920, 1922) and Histoire de l'art religieux (1939).
There was another painter named Ambrous Vuillard too who was also a very famous art dealer. See Picasso and Vuillard
Did that help you ??
