Is this stippling effect in almost every passage done with salt, air brush, mouth atomizer? It's a close up of a poster by Barbara Wallace.

My guess would be airbrush or atomizer...not absolutely positive tho. Hard to tell from a poster but another possibility would be that some kind of granulation medium--or even actual sand--was used. Did that once--used the granulating medium--for an alligator painting. Pretty cool looking.

It looks like Acrylic and may be an overwash of Raw or Burnt Sienna , or Raw umber that simply left granulation.
