Alwyn Crawshaw (https://artistsnetwork.tv/c-2-workshops.aspx?fcat=artist&Artist=Alwyn%20Crawshaw) is back with ArtistsNetwork.TV (http://www.ArtistsNetwork.TV) for Part 2 of his oil painting tips with Oils for Beginners Part 2 (https://artistsnetwork.tv/p-269-oils-for-the-beginner-with-alwyn-crawshaw-part-2.aspx). In this video Alwyn takes you step by step though the painting of a beautiful harbor scene. Starting with an initial sketch and tinted canvas, he builds the painting with tonal values, then adds local color to the sky, the background maountains, the boats and the water. You'll learn tips for brushwork, achieving atmosphere, creating textures, painting reflections, adding figures and more! When you practice and paint step by step with Alwyn, you'll learn to love oils…as Alwyn says, "Why don't you have a go, it's easier than you think!"

In this preview you'll add some important details with a focus on keeping brushstrokes simple and subtle—boat masts, fencing and figures add realism and life to the painting even when simply suggested.
