Hi all! I just got in some samples from Terry Ludwig and had to play! This is about 2 hours of work. Those pastels are WONDERFUL!!  They are soft and glide on smoothly! As soon as I can convince my wife to let me spend somre more money on art supplies, I've got to buy some more of these!!! Sorry about all the exclamation points, but I'm a little excited!!!

Anyway, here's the picture. I used one of my wife's Boyd's Bears as a model. It's about 8x10 on Canson Mi-Tientes. Comments, critiques, criticisms, advise.....all are welcome! Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Roger. Congratulations on your new tools. This is a very cute picture. Some darker shadowing would really make your subject pop. Right now it's a little flat. But it is well drawn and the color balance is good so just a little darker shadowing and you've got a good one.

I love your use of green in the shadow. You should add more shadow to the bear itself. These pastels look like they really cover the paper well. Looks like they are super soft. Are they?
I've only used rembrants, sennelier, yarka and nupastel so far.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I've worked on this some more (thanks for the suggestion, 1mpete!). Hope this is more what you were looking for (if not, let me know, I can always brush it off and work some more!:p ).

Sweetiness,
These are very soft, and if you are anything like me (pretty heavy-handed), you can fill in the tooth REALLY quickly - not always a good thing! But as I said before, I really like these!
