Hi guys,

I emailed Terry Ludwig to get a sample of his pastels. Of course, I told him I'd pay the postage. I just wanted to see what all the hoopla was about. He said he'd send me the colors I wanted out of fear! He said you three are a tough bunch! lol. Sounds like a cool guy. I told him to send whatever he wanted to. I just want to try them out and see if I want to order any.

Thanks for the inof and help, bike

 Seriously, tho, I'm glad you're getting the pastels and ain't he a sweetheart to just give them out to folks? What a prince!

Now be sure to post whatever work you do with them!

Now, Rose Queen, you have no idea what you're asking for. I've never done one thing in pastel yet. I did try oil pastels, in fact I still have an almost brand new box but I don't like them at all.

Yes, it was so cool of him to do but if I do like them, I will return the favor by buying them. I just wanted one stick so I could see how buttery they are.

Do you know how he makes them? Have you ever tried to make your own? Just curious if it would save money cause I'm not that flush right now.

I'm not a pastellist myself, so I can't claim to have tried Terry's product, but I know people who have just rave about them. I also know I've seen stuff on the internet about making your own pastels, but I didn't bookmark it 'cause it wasn't an interest of mine. Perhaps a little quality time with Google would pay off...? I just plugged "make pastels" into it and got buried! :D

Our own llis seems to have a thing or two up her sleeve on the subject: http://www.wetcanvas.com/ArtSchool/Pastels/MakingPastels/

Bike,

I just got some samples from Terry in the mail yesterday (and spent a good portion of last night ignoring my family;) ;) ). From what little I've done with them so far, I'm EXTREMELY impressed. The colors are gorgeous, and they just glide on soooooo smoothly! I will definitely be ordering some more from Terry soon!! (It was like Christmas all over again!:D ).

I own a set of Terry's Dark hues and I very happy with them. They are very very nice. Its nice to have such rich darks readily available. They were very reasonable too.
