I have always liked this design and yet it has always been one of those paintings only painters like. It is pretty abstract in shapes.

I find it disconcerting...the yellow ochre and white being so bright in the middle...it's the shape that is drawing my eye, and it feels to me incongruious (sp?) Maybe it's the hard edges of that area?

I'm not very complicated. I just paint the colors and edges I see before me. it usually works for the best. This work has always been pretty edgy due to the vantage point. I was looking down into this cool running creek. Artists are the only folks that have ever looked at it twice.
But I treat all subjects the same, nature unifies them and it's hard to improve on the wonders of our world. I'm happy if and on occasion when I get close.

Wow, wow, wow! I LOVE those roses! If I may ask, how did you do that background? Gives it a *lot* of energy.
(I have already commented on the rock one. Really enjoyed that also!)

By the way Tim, you are wanted over in Color Theory. Look under "shadows" thread...I believe you received an "invite."

I like them both, usually I don't care much for flower paintings but if rendered with a stunning background like here it's a different story. Can I ask you what brand of paint you are using?
