View Full Version : S & T January 2011
I haven't posted anything in ages. I am back to knitting hats & scarves, want to show you a new hat that I just finished. I got a new book for working on circular needles and couldn't get the hang of it, got flustered so I knit this one on straight needles.

It is a super hat Gladys, must have taken ages with all those patterns and colours.
Claire, No it only took about 6 hrs to do, once I started knitting on straight needles! Its supposed to be done on a circular needle but it was too much of a hassle for me, so I did it the way I knew best and it turned out good. I just gifted it to my bosses daughter. She is 13 in a 22 year old body. She is my buddy and she likes my hats.

I joined the SCA the beginning of this month and have been busy making garb for spouse and myself.
This is the belt I made for spouse. Woven from a wool blend roving and embroidered, based on archaeological finds in Europe and Britain, with 8/3 cotton thread. The buckle is a brass rod bent into a D ring and the rivets are simply decorative paper punches.

Tis the season for knitting and weaving !! Very nice hats Gbot any silly artists hats in the future ? I plan to start some silly ladies racetrack hats soon but am also busy oil painting lately ! Nice belt Kitaye looks like you could make sales making strong unique dog leashes from this technique
Why do ladies wear silly hats to the races ?
A: If you see a jockey win a Hat Trick (3 races) you try crown them with your silly hat or toss it to them on the way from the horse to the jocks room !

Kitaye, there has been a serious amount of work go into that belt, it looks amazing. With the easy availability of cheap clothing these days it is sobering to remember that cloth had to be spun and woven before one could even begin to make garments.
Great belt, I can only imagine the hours put into that creation.
es I have made alot more hats, must take pictures of them all. Snowing today, so it might be a good thing to get caught up on.

That is beautiful, did you make the ends from scratch or did you recycle something for them?
