View Full Version : Michelle's January Journal

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't touched my journals since October. I loved what everyone did for December, and I decided that I would definitely work in mine in January.
I didn't want to do 31 self portraits, and I don't sketch outside when it's cold, unlike my sis Joan, so I wasn't sure what to do for a "theme". Then, not to overthink it, I just decided to sketch a few of my favorite things. That may end up being the theme, or I just might do a jumble of things.
January 1 I did a sketch of three of my glass cats, two clear glass and one smokey. They were sitting on a piece of blue paper, so they reflected a lot of the blue. It was starting to turn into more of a painting than a sketch, so I stopped.
January 2, I sketched my Willow Tree angel, a stained glass angel, and a Precious Moments angel. Now let's hope I can upload today. LOL

Mickey - Glad you're sketching again!!! Your glass cats look great. You should have lots of favorite things hanging around. Can't wait to see what else you do after the angels.

Hi Michelle! Cool thing about sketchbooks is you can take it as far as you like or stop abruptly when you have had enough
You are off to a fantastic new year start!

sketches can be as finished or unfinished as you want - no rules, which is what I like :)
they have a nice sense of transparency

It seems that my January journal is a bust - I did two sketches and pretty much quit sketching. But I was out Saturday for the Sketchcrawl and did three snow scenes, one from my sister Joan's car, and two from the large windows in the lecture room at our local wildlife center.

Wonderful sketchcrawl scenes. I particularly like the ink in the third piece.

Thanks, EP. My pens weren't cooperating - I think they are starting to dry out, but I managed to get some ink in where it was needed in that sketch.

These are delightful. I love the snow scenes. All my snow has melted. :(
Don't feel bad, my January journal was supposed to be a continuation of my December challenge. I managed to get one page done.
Nice snow scenes, Michelle! You and Joan are quite the family sketching team! :)

Thanks, Debby. If you wan't snow, come to NJ. We have lots and it's snowing again today.
Thanks, John. Joan and I actually have another sketching sister who lives in Maine. And I've been sending my 13 year old granddaughter the scavenger hunt list and she has been sketching them.
