Looking GREAT!!!

Back when I had a "real" job, i mapped orca migration routes. These creatures are special to me!!

Good job!

Real nice, did you use salt to get that lovely texture in the top?

Thanks guys. Yes I used salt... it is the first time I tried this technique .... I like the results so far! :D

Nice whales and wonderful handling of the water!

Bob - what a wonderful job that must have been. You probably came up into our area then. I live on coastal BC and was born on Northern tip of Vancouver Island.

I love Orca's too. They are so beautiful and intelligent, I just hate to see them in the small puddles they keep them in at Aquariums. :(

Alana this is beautiful so far. It'a hard to believe you still have work to do on it. I have just started in watercolors & I heard about using salt, but wasn't sure of the out come. Thanks for posting this.
I love to see an orca again. The only time I got to see them was at Sea World in San Diego 22 years ago. I got to pet a baby one.
I don't like to see these large mammals in aquariums either but for a prairie girl like me who doesn't get to the coast, the aquariums are my only choice.

lovely huck...... nice effect with the salt (never heard of that before :D) ..... love the darkness of them against the colours you have

Oh, I agree, if it wasn't for aquariums people wouldn't get to see them up close, including myself, but it is still sad. They are so used to such a large body of water.... then thrown into this little pool, it is like putting us in a closet I guess. ;)

Thanks for all your great comments guys/gals!

Hi Alana :)
I really like how you handled the background with the salt.
The whales are excellent.
Good composition with lots of movement.
Well Done!
