Well well - that's near perfection I must admit - to my eye anyway. I'll have to learn to paint fur like that someday (tho yours is in pastels I guess). I like the choice of yellow breakground which sets of the orange-tan fur on the nose really well - good choice! Maybe a little texture (moisture?) needs to go into the black snout tip ? I'd hang it on my wall !

Irene,
Great rendition of this fuzzy li'l guy. the only thing I think distracts from your absolute wonderful display of fur is the yellow background. I think you'll find a darker complimentive background may help your little fuzzball stand out a bit.
Great job!

Irene, this is a beautiful painting, and the fur is absolutely perfect.

I got interested in how this painting would look with a dark compliment in the background (as suggested). I also wondered what it would look like with just a darker version of the yellow hue.

Well... here's the result.

Well thankyou all for the positive feedback. I like the idea of a darker background especially upon viewing Henriks displays. Also the nose appears totally black online, but in reality more detail appears. Moisture on the tip of the nose is something I'll try. Actually I'm working on another Cougar and baby in pastels right now, so I'll give it a go.
Thanks again

The bluish background on the right got too blue I think - it harmonizes with the blue/gray fur rather than complement it; more red would perhaps do it.

Personally I like the darker yellow hue version best.

Hi Henrik
The dark blue background got me to thinking about a full moonlit night snow scene for my next coyote pastel painting. Thanks for your help, it really opens my minds eyes.

I Think your coyote is remarkable. There is so much texture in the fur and eyes. have`nt tried pastels yet...
