Hiya,

In the spirit of Debby's challenge, I give you the (somewhat?) disastrous December doodles. I borrowed Seejay's approach of doing 12 first and then 11 and then 10 so then it gets less work as I go along.

12 boxes of parts of holly leaves with some zentangle-like doodles inside.

11 boxes of jolly surprise.

10 boxes with the start of common Christmas carols and songs all strung together in one continuous script with no spaces.

9 boxes of doodles. Here is where I broke from the attempted theme of using holiday ideas.

8 boxes that are somewhat inspired by dominoes.

7 boxes of 7's with strings of pearls inside.

Debby if you think this is a truly disastrous journal, let me know and I'll stop :)

LOL, I think its very creative and looks like fun :)
What is a zentangle? That one stumps me. . .

oh? oh Ho. A very creative. 12 fun days of Christmas.

A zentangle is a doodle in patterns. A zen-like way of drawing. A tangle of patterns.

I don't see a disaster at all. I see a very creative take on the idea. Zentangles and doodles work. Keep going. You are more than half done. The idea is to have fun. Did you have fun? It looks like you did.

EP, these are hilarious! They're wonderful! You've taken your elegant lines and interesting boxed layouts to a new height, while some of your ideas are fantastic whimsy. The page of sevens for 7, with pearls in... that just made me laugh. I love the big first ones with the holiday themes too.

Great work and I can see the joke in your calling it "Disastrous," that made me laugh too.

Rainy, Elain, Debby, Chris, Jackie, John, Robert, and Scatty - thank you. You're all too kind regarding my silly and very poor doodles. I had high hopes (too high? too unrealistic?) for this little project and part-way in I decided to go with the flow and just be silly. I love the touching-circles doodles so you'll see a bunch of those coming up.

6 boxes of circles and lines.

5 boxes of concentric rounded rectangles....

uh oh I got the ack! error.

But rest assured I have pages done for 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and will post them later when the uploader has recovered from the far-too-concentrated-rum-eggnog. Happy Holidays!!

1. Now. My plan was to decorate around the single solitary empty box. And I did that. But now the single solitary box looks so ... surrounded that I'm not sure how I feel about it.

These are great. What a fun take on the whole challenge.

I will point out that we are missing 3. Did it run away?

Thanks Debby. Ooops! Too much rum and eggnog? Here's number three: in several languages including math :)

Rum and eggnog, very understandable.

This one is fun and interesting too. I really like how you kept things light and simple.

Love it! What a triumphant finish! LOL - I noticed the missing three and then you posted it - fantastic. Well done! The whole series is unique and whimsical. Worked out great, complete with your satiric title.

Congrats, EP! I like the two 'big eyes' - look like cross-sections of bamboo or some other type of wood.

great finish. How did you manage all those straight lines around the box after the egg nogg?

Very amusing EP. Zentangling is something that has captured the imagination of many of my friends. It makes me crazy, I could never have finished 12 days of it so congratulations.
