12-23-2010, 03:20 PM

...11 holly leaves....

woo hoo, off to get on with me 10 one...

12-23-2010, 04:26 PM
Scatty, they are both beautiful. . . love the colors in the buabbles one. . . very nice! And the last one does look like it would make a gorgeous card. NICELY DONE

12-23-2010, 05:45 PM
 Great colourful start to your countdown!.

12-23-2010, 07:36 PM
The 11 holly leaves would be a splendid card. Beautiful.

12-23-2010, 11:14 PM
Very nice start Scatty!!

12-24-2010, 12:04 AM
Very creative and colorful compositions, clearly Christmasy!

12-24-2010, 12:45 AM
Wow. I love your watercolors! The colors are so vibrant and fun, especially in the baubles piece! And I agree that your holly leaves should be made into a Christmas card next year. It's so simple and elegant!

P.S. I'm glad that I wasn't the only one that was starting late on the challenge. Good luck with the next ones, I can't wait to see what you come up with!

12-24-2010, 12:53 AM
Great designs and colors! Looking forward to the rest of the days.

12-24-2010, 12:35 PM
and the next one right in here please  Watercolours, fibre pens, water sol lyra pastels and sparkly gel pens on 300g wc paper. Thought this was going to be easier, but took about 2.5 hours in the end...

10 sparkly stars...

12-24-2010, 01:01 PM
Wow! Kat, you're doing great on these! Love all three of them. Your perspective on the wine glass with 12 shiny baubles is wonderful, like the way you show only part of them and pile them up so naturally. Perfect reflective shininess too, such true glass! Love your eleven holly leaves painting, that will make a gorgeous card. Those ten sparkly stars are great - that one's just so much fun. I love their variation and the different numbers of points, the composition, the way you laid them out on that dark background to make them shine.

All three are winners! Keep going! You might need to do more than one in a day to catch up now but it'll keep getting easier the farther you go!

12-24-2010, 03:06 PM
thanks peeps for the encouragment, these two were in the pipeline, managed to get to finish them.

9 christmassy trees...

8 resting reindeer...

12-24-2010, 05:05 PM
These are wonderful Scatty. The stars are so fun. The trees look so quiet and peaceful. I love the wood after the snow. The reindeer are delightful. So much fun you are having with these.

12-24-2010, 06:06 PM
Great follow-up images for your first two.

You are even adding punch-lines, fun! :D

12-26-2010, 05:56 PM
back again with the next one. Played in front of the telly today, gel pens an' minced pies. Another one fron my imagination, inspired by the pressies under the tree. The first one is photographed and shows the colours better, and the sparkly effects of the gel pens. The second one is a scan, then I photoshopped some words onto the labels, don't understand why the scan takes out the twinkles, soo much prettier with them.

7 gorgeous gifts...

12-26-2010, 06:14 PM
Wow, your late start on the monthly challenge certainly hasn't precluded outstanding results! Love all these since my last look here. Being a landscape person, if I was forced to pick a favorite (and it would be tough) it would probably be the trees and mountain.

12-26-2010, 09:01 PM
Very pretty presents. Getting good scans or photos of art is a challenge.

12-27-2010, 05:20 AM
WOW Scatty - I love the presents - the photo showing the shininess of the gel pens is so pretty ;)

 had a chuckle at your reindeer - what fun! They are all so great, you've produced some winners here :)

12-27-2010, 05:24 AM
PS I just took a look at your blog and added you to my favourites - great stuff!

12-27-2010, 05:47 AM
thanks so much for all yer kind comments. Just tried uploading number 6, but the uploader won't play this morning. Had a similar problem over in amae just now, so will leave it till this afternoon, might have number 5 under me belt by then. Chow fer now...

12-27-2010, 08:56 AM
Great Christmassy trees landscape, that's spectacular. Good one with the resting reindeer, love the caption and the variety of poses. Agree on the sparklies on the presents, thanks for sharing both the photo and the scan of them. These rock! You're really catching up now! Well done!

12-27-2010, 05:27 PM
Great presents, I was hoping one had my name on it. :D

12-27-2010, 08:23 PM
The painting on the holly leaves is exquisite but the reindeer steel the show.

Lovely colourful pressies. Great details with the ribbon and the sparkly gel pens.

12-28-2010, 07:39 AM
thanks for the lovely comments everyone. The uploader has complied this morning, so i'm popping no 6 in while I can. It's white charcoal penciling on dark mount board. Then I loaded it into photoshop and played with the image, are digi's allowed in journals? -

6 scintilating snowflakes...

Kat - You had a great idea to work backwards from 12. It was a bit overwhelming the other way. Love the glass with the baubbles...wonderful color. Great shimmer on the holly leaves...I like the long horizontal look. Lovely sparkly stars and awesome wintry scene with the snow covered trees. Cute sketch with the reindeer. Wow...love the gifts!!! I'm still lookin' for my name. lol I like the way the snowflakes came out photoshopped. Great job on all of these!!!

12-28-2010, 01:56 PM
up to 5 now, and thought I'd stick with the golden rings on this, and these little musical angels are sporting them on their heads. Soft pastels on A4 size 130g ingress tinted pastel paper, a couple of hours ish I think, but didn't take account...

5 golden rings...

12-28-2010, 04:45 PM
Beautiful snowflakes. The angel musicians are just so adorable.

12-29-2010, 01:37 AM

12-30-2010, 05:53 AM
yaye, t'werked  .

for 4 joys I sketched some fir cones, they always make me think wintery christmassy thoughts. Just pencil on cartridge paper, A4 size...

4 cobbley cones...

thouhgt t'was time to speed up the production line a tad, as social events are starting to clutter up the days as we approach new years eve. Very quick one in pen n ink n wash on cheapo A5 watercolour paper.

3 musical meeces...

got to work on A4 cartridge paper with those sparkly pens again for the penultimate pic.

2 sincere sentiments...

and the final one I painted before all of the above, and used it as my christmas card image for this year. Its a heralding angel trumpeting in the christmas dawn. A3 watercolours/gouache on fabriano 280 g watercolour paper...

1 announcing angel...

Wonderful angels on golden rings! Awesome detail to your pine cones. lol Love the cute mice! They add a touch of whimsy to this. Nice sentiments, but the final angel is just wonderful!!! I'm amazed at how quickly you finished this.

12-30-2010, 08:32 PM
Wow, congrats on the finish. These are just great. I'm really impressed with your pine cones.

12-30-2010, 09:52 PM
Kat - congratulations on finishing the challenge and doing it so beautifully! I love all of your 12 Joys - I especially like that you did so many different and really cool styles. Each one is a treasure in its own right.

12-31-2010, 12:59 AM
Wow, your challenge ending was fast and furious, and very nice as well.

12-31-2010, 01:51 AM
Great snowflakes and those pine cones are great. They are so hard to draw.

I'm not surprised you used the heral angel as your Christmas card. With a flourish of trumpet a terriffic finish. Well done.

12-31-2010, 01:08 PM
Wow, Kat, you finished the month with a bang and style! Or actually quite a wonderful range of styles...from the wonderfully rendered fir cones, to the very cute musical meeces and then the stately and colorful angel. Well done!

Have a wonderful new year!

I'm not sure whether I'm putting my journal in the right place but I guess one of the moderators will make sure it goes where it's supposed to be. I started a journal back in September and went through December using graphite or just colored pencils. I'm trying to develop my drawing skills and with the journal, I have more ideas to paint in watercolors. So here goes my first journal entry for the month starting with a drawing of a deer on January 4, 2010. Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. Looking forward to joining you all for the month of January. Thanks. Bonnie
