Today is Santa Lucía (St. Lucy's Day), patron saint of vision and light, so this morning I did this study of a tiny part of Francesco del Cossa's painting of her done way back in 1470. The original is in the NGA in Washington D.C.
Tomorrow I'm going to make that thumb a bit thicker, at the expense of the forefinger.

Thanks Trafford, Robin, and Margo.
A couple of days ago my wife went in for her annual eye checkup and I presented it to her ophthalmologist. He seemed very pleased.

Oh, dear, Lawrence. This painting is absolutely surreal. Great job. I think it will freak out the older ladies who visits more frequently for cataracts and glaucoma.

Thanks Sandra, yes, looks like "the gift of sight" doesn't it? My wife has cataracts but nothing serious yet. I put the painting in a nice little frame and gave it to my wife's ophthalmologist at Clínica Barraquer in Barcelona.
