So I've decided that I want to try and keep a sketchbook and use it on a regular basis, keeping myself continually working and creating. I'm going to post my progress here and challenge myself to work for at least an hour a day in it, posting at least 4-5 times a week. Feel welcome to comment or even post your own sketchbook pages! It's a moleskin 5x7 sketchbook with the thicker pages.

This first is a pen and ink drawing of a bouquet from a recent wedding I was in.

Welcome! Great first sketch, you're already good at pen and ink sketching. This is going to be beautiful. I have one of those and it's good paper for pen and ink.

Great Pen & ink. I love the hatching going different ways on the wrapping on the stalks. Adds to the 3'd effect.

This is going to be an interesting journal.

Thank you all for your encouraging comments!

So I have concerns already that I have drawn all of the interesting objects in my house.. a new aspect of the challenge.. and it's only sketch 2.

After searching far and wide I finally found my flute from high school in the spare room closet. Another pen and ink.http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/images/13-Dec-2010/528411-IMG_3103.JPG (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/Uploader/upload_image_save2.php#)

So I did this yesterday but didn't have the computer to post it (my husband is a computer nazi and needs to fix his own haha). While in the middle of it I discovered the December Challenge and I think I may start that tomorrow or this evening! I am, however thinking that I want to do it backwards, like the song! 12, 11, 10, 9, etc.

Another excellent pen and ink piece! The 'rules' on the December challenge are about as loose as pseudo-rules get, so starting at 12 and working down is no problem. If fact, our journalaholic Robert here did it that way already.

You have such a nice style with the ink. It has a strong graphic design feel but not harsh in any way - I look forward to seeing your challenge sketches! As John said, our rules tend to be very "loose" in their interpretation

Sketch one of the December Challenge. I used a Micron pen this time instead of my nub pen and ink. I was trying to save time but you can tell that there's a difference in the quality of the drawing outline. Ah well, I thought it would be fun to also use my colored pens to color them! Starting the next one in the morning, as I'm doing caricatures at a christmas party tonight! Good times!! PS I really need to hook up my scanner... eeks :Dhttp://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/images/18-Dec-2010/528411-IMG_3111.JPG (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/Uploader/upload_image_save2.php#)

great pens but I LOVE the rose. I like the way you have things off-centre on the page. makes it so much more interesting.

You have great drawing skills.

So, first of all, sorry for the delay in posting. My husband and I have been doing reconstruction on our bathroom since a pipe burst. It's still a work in progress, and now I'm waiting for my husband to finish patching the wall so that I can start painting, then he can lay the tile.

Second of all, I obviously cannot count. I was positive that I had only left 11 paintbrushes in my roll, until I finished. So this for entry 11 (+1) :o ..enough of an oops? haha!http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/images/23-Dec-2010/528411-IMG_3119.JPG (http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/../Community/Uploader/upload_image_save2.php#)

Very nice pens and brushes; I especially like the pens, nice lines.

I obviously cannot count. Maybe it's just not possible to draw and count at the same time???:D

Marvelous brushes.

Art is primarily a right brain activity. Counting is a left brain activity. Sometimes the two halves of our brains don't talk to each other.

Your ink work is stunning! I'm totally in awe. On the topic of having sketched everything interesting in your house, now sketch the mundane, or hop over to the scavenger hunt for inspiration, you certainly aren't lacking talent!

Hey! I have those exact same pens!! :) Love them! Great sketches too. Oy, I can never get myself to sit down and draw something and I have a bunch of empty sketchbooks lying around. Shame on me.

I just love your ink work!!! The flute came out so well. Lovely composition and style to the rose. Glad to see you start on the December challenge. I applaud those who thought ahead and started with the 12 items first. It was hard working the other way. Wonderful colored pens!!! Great idea to sketch your brushes in the holder! Will all your items be "art themed"?
