Thanks, gnu :D ... hmm, it just grew, I guess. Started with the "needle" but it was a bit empty and didn't balance, so I decided to add arches that "threaded" through the hole(s - a sort of double 'A') ...

Great project, sassy, thanks for hosting it!

Interesing project. :)

You know, there's a scholarship out there that awards scholarship money to couples going to their high school prom wearing matching duct tape outfits. I have a friend who's making her prom dress out of duct tape.

Very interesting shape. I like the way that the parts flow in and out of each other. It gives the eye a path to follow. Using a cd as the base was a good idea. After you made the cones and wrapped them did you find that the thickness was enough to keep it stiff? I always use some sort of base to support any kind of sculpture I do no matter what the sculpting material is.

I have to admit I haven't begun my piece yet since I was on vacation from the time I started this project. I'm going to have to get on the ball or is that roll? lol

Add a tube of super glue for those cracks to be filled, and I will run on your ticket...lol You know since women have learned to utilize these otherwise "man" secrets to success we are making huge strides in the world:D

Thanks for commenting, sassy :) ...

No, not really; I thought I would make the sculpture purely out of duct tape, but it really isn't stiff enough, and gravity kept pulling it out of balance, especially the hole. I had to keep plastering smaller pieces of the tape at the base of the arches to help pull it back at a particular angle. It's funny, because the arches really aren't that hollow - the core was also made from the tape by folding a strip in two then wrapping layers of tape around it.

You just gave me an idea though ... instead of standing sculpture, why not suspend it? Takes up less studio floor space. :D

Now that's fashion and sculpture, lol! :p Is duct tape actually strong enough to hold everything safely? How did you attach clasps, zippers or buttons, if any?

The duck's form is nicely defined. "Duck" tape? ;)

Can it actually stand upright sans support? What was the material used to stuff the duck?

Leaflin

:) Thanks hlee
The body is a styrofoam ball as is the head.
The neck and legs are dowel rods.
The beak, feet, and tail are formed duct tape.
It actually stands up well on it's own :)

I added some feathers and some REALLY BAD google eyes for fun and may post it later if I get up the nerve.

This fellow looks so bad but I have had three people want it already.
As a gift of course :D

Here's one of three duct tape peices I have, with more to follow, I really like how the chain turned out because it can be articulated in a myriad of ways,
