Folks... I'm finding that there are several options that we might want to consider before settling down on where to stay. Please let me know your thoughts. I'm trying to get the best rates and still be comfortable and keep everyone close by so we can get together easy.

Here is a new link Pine Mountain Georgia (http://pinemountain.org)

I called Davis Inn and they say they can give us special group rates of $70.00 per night if we have 10 rooms double occupancy, adults only. Davis Inn is an older Inn, but still nice. You can see part of it at Davis Inn (http://www.davisinn.com/)

I called Days Inn which is a new motel and they can give us special rates by booking 5 rooms for five days at $69.00 double occupancy. A Days Inn is a Days Inn... but look, you are not comming to see Days Inn, you will just be sleeping there. Same idea as staying at Davis Inn.

White Columns (http://www.whitecolumns-ga.com) Extra Clean rooms.... $60.00 per night, king, queen, double. Smoking/non-smoking. Small motel...but highly recommended.

Remember, at some of these places, you can get discount rates by using AARP or other travel discounts. Anybody know of some discounts available I don't know of? I may ride over and check out witht he Chamber of Commerce and see what they can help us with. I also might check with the Chamber and see if we can have a mini art show somewhere. This might be a good sale opportunitie.

I'd like to keep us all in three places so we can keep up with each other easier.

1. Blackberry Ridge..... You have to have an Aero Portable Bed for the floor space available.... but hey.... it won't be all that bad.

2. A Motel/Inn somewhere close to the entrance of Callaway Gardens.

3. FDR Camp grounds

If you have signed up for the Mountain Inn at Callaway Gardens tenatively at $139.00 per night, and would like to consider Davis Inn or Days Inn at $70.00 + your $20.00 Callaway guest pass let me know and I'll work on getting the group to move to Davis Inn or Days Inn... which ever works best for everyone.

We have two weeks to hash all this out. Think and let me know your thoughts or if you have other ideas.

Thx Phyllis for looking into this. I still think I'd like to stay at Calloway as much for the convenience of being right there where we paint as for the hotel amenities and beautiful surroundings.

A Days Inn or such would incur the added inconvenience of having to travel back and forth each day as well as staying in a less nice hotel. Plein aireing it for 7 days can take a lot out of me physically so I may need that fitness room. :D

Dana: I would recommend that you and Arlene consider staying at White Columns. I don't think you would be missing much. Let me know your thoughts.

Either way.... the Motel or the house. These belong to a really nice family so I know you will be safe and would enjoy your stay. I didn't get rates on the house, but I'm sure she will do her best to give you good rates.

Waiting for Cheryl and Sandy to say... please do add any other thoughts you might have.

I'm with Arlene. The house looks great. With a kitchen, we could fix our own meals and it has a nice outdoor bbq. If there are enough people interested, this may be the cheapest way to go.

Even though it is four months away, and I have talked with many of the motels around Callaway Gardens, I still do not have enough folks to tell me they will be staying at one place or another so I can get special rates.

Here is what you will need to do. Please make your own reservations at the motel of your choice. Some are going to stay at Callaway Inn, some at White Columns, some at FDR Camp Grounds and some at Days Inn. You can find telephone numbers for all of these places by clicking on the links in this thread.

It would be a good idea to nominate a captain for those of you that are staying at or near Callaway Gardens. I can take care of the folks that are staying with me at Blackberry Ridge which is my home, but so far as corridinating everyone finding each other, someone from there will need to do that.

I nominate Mal. Could you do this Mal?

Sure llis, we'll have the Suv, and with chery's suv, there will be plenty of riding space. We'll be sure the folks at the day's Inn has a ride if they need it. Poor Ray thinks he's coming along because it's our anniversary May 3rd. lol

For those who are interested, I called Callaway and a nice person named Amy said they announce special deals about a month ahead of time. So if you call them up about end-March beginning-April, they may be able to give you a deal. She said there'd be no problem of not finding a room for the week we're looking for.

And for those who don't have cars, they have a free shuttle to locations in the surrounding area.
