Hi All,

Thought I would share with you the journal I have made for my son for
Christmas this year. There might be some of you who would find this project a good idea for one of your loved ones too. My son is a cowboy and police officer. I did watercolor paintings and pen and ink peices of subjects that would be meaningful for him. I shot these pictures of the pages before they were sewn together. Enjoy!

Terrific idea Dena. I'm sure it will provide pleasure to him for many years. Great paintings. My favoutite are the boots, the truck and the back cover.

I'm in the process of doing two for my grandchildren (3 and 5) only it will be mainly photos of family and friends, and pictures of things they like e.g. favourite toys

Thanks, Elain. I've done several pieces of art for his walls and thought this might be a nice change.

What a gorgeous idea Dena and your style of working them is just to die for! Your son must be a lovely person judging by the various pieces you chose to represent various bits of his life and favorite memories. :) I had a somewhat similar idea, as my son is probably a bit young to handle paintings (5 yrs) in that one of his christmas gifts is a small journal to draw his daily adventures in.

Thank you to everyone for all the comments. My son, Freddie, did indeed love the journal. It was quite teary here for a bit as he opened and read it. He's very soft-hearted, even for a big, strong cowboy and cop.
Happy New Year!
