This little one is my #32 of my "Herd of Cows" series
I changed the background around a little bit.
I started this at the show on Sunday,
Acrylic on 5x7" hardboard

Excellant! I love the details in the background as well. The photo does not show the shoulder as being lighter. I also wonder about the background. Adding a bit of brightness between this sweet cow and the wall behind him/her may give it just a bit more pop! Might be the camera too. Just my 2 cents. I love your work Kathie!

Thanks so much Candy!
The photo doesnt do it justice, its realy too dark, but Black is hard to photgraph. The shoulder, is actually the highlight/shine of his neck area.
Glad you like it!
Terrific work. I love the composition and detail of the cow.

Kathie. You are just getting better and better. I love this little calf. The black fur is brilliantly painted. What colours did you use?

Thank you very much Vany!
I use a dagger/slant brush, sometimes called a striper and make short little hatch like lines for the hairs, often doing alot of the dark hairs first and then add lights, many times going back and forth with the colors to get the look I want. I do paint very thinly, inky consistancy, my liquitex heavy body paints only thinned with water.
Hope it helps. Good luck
I think this one is my favourite cow. It's just excellent.
