Hiya,
Here is the start of my November page-a-day sketchbook.
I have more pages that I have not photographed. These are from life, directly in ink, in an approx. 6x9" sketchbook.
Can you guess my theme? :)

 I have some New Balance very similar, and I reckon I might have slippers like that somewhere too!
Are these anybody's shoes or all yours?! It would take me a while to exhaust drawing all my shoes as I am a bit of an Imelda Marcos with shoes and handbags...... ;)
This looks like it is going to be a fun sketchbook!
Wow, nice job EP! Shoes are tough, especially directly in pen. New Balance were among my favorite shoes when I was a runner (two bad knees ago - ).

very nice. . . when I draw direct with pen I seem more hesitant and don't get such smooth lines. Good stuff EP

Jackie - thank you. Yes these are my shoes. And there will be lots of repeats because I do not have the "shoe gene" :)
John - thanks - New Balance were my shoe of choice for running :)
Elaine - thank you
Rainy - thanks
Debby - thanks - these are all mine and there are PLENTY of repeats to come ... I only have a few :)

Looks like a footwear theme :D Also, in places they look like those kind of drawings you do without lifting the pen off the page. Anyway nice drawings, they look quite confident!

I love it! A shoe journal. Something very essential but often overlooked finally given it's just dues! :D

No shoe gene? O, the agony of de' feet.
Love the shoes, keep it up! Your line work is very nice. Many of my art friends are into value, tone, etc. and rather anti-line. I love line work.

I don't have a shoe gene either.
These are great. The different angles and by ones and twos.

Cool! Are you doing these straight into the ink again EP (no graphite sketch first?) Very well observed - it is quite a difficult aspect with the foreshortening ;)

These are so cool, EP!!!! We've had so much practice with footware and feet in the hunts, but it's fun to see a whole collection of them!

Rainy, Debby, Chris, and Joan - thank you.
Last batch:

This is such a great theme. And your sketches are so clear with just a few lines.

Fascinating. Terrific idea and all so different
Somehow I didn't subscribe to this thread, so missed several batches of shoes. They are all great! And your style of drawing works very well with this subject matter. Great job!

Tough subject and viewpoint at times EP but you came up with a great collection of sketches! Are you going to add any colour to any of them....?!
