Hi
Now I am hanging in 3 different places at the same time and it is December before Christmas. I cannot believe my luck! I am selling and I have commissions coming. It is all about publicity and letting people know about you. I am the lucky one who can do commision portraits and" regular hope somebody will like it" pieces. I am amazed how good life can be. How easy it is to do hard work if you really love it. How proud you can be of yourself. This is so new to me. All my life I had to work very very hard to make a living. I don't know what will happened tomorrow but today I am happy. I had a phone call about another commission and just yesterday I was thinking : it would be nice to have another child to draw. What really makes me happy is all that struggle trying to get the likeness. The hardest it is the more challenged I feel. I must be nuts! Always simple things were hard for me to do and hard things were easy.

What a life - Jolanta

Jolanta! Congratulations!! I'm always so happy to hear about an artist's success knowing that it didn't just happen. So many hours of practice, study, learning -- unlearning...and all the tears, smiles and hopes go into every painting whether we realize it or not. And when things just seem to come together...we're always so surprised!

I'm in the Charlotte area every now and then...and will be up near Chapel Hill more next year. My husband does some work up in those areas...next time I'm up that way, I'll post a message...we could do lunch!!

As a former Tarheel (Ft. Bragg and Asheville), let me weigh in here and say CONGRATS!

I wonder if you've read The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, because a lot of what you're talking about sounds like the concept of "synchronicity" that she writes extensively about. In essence, you ask the universe (in some form or other that's comfortable to you) for what you need and the universe provides.

Whatever it is, I'm so glad it's happening to you and that you shared it with us, because it gives us all hope that it can happen to us, too!

Hi Carly,

The world is getting really small! It is so good to know other artists are so close. I am quite close to Chapel Hill. Thanks for your kind words. Yes it is such a surprise to be able to do what others have no clue how to do it and a gift at the same time.

Have a great creations

Hi Rose Queen,
No, I didn't read the book but I always have a feeling like we all are in a way responsible for our future. To the point. If we will sit and wait for something to happen it will probably never happen. We need to take the action. It is somehow scary but not hard at all. Actually everything we approach for the first time is scary. Right? So I had my first show and I was scared almost didn't go. As soon as I walked in it was just great. People love art and artists. Not always they can afford to buy it but they are always very nice because it is something mysterious about being able to draw or paint a picture. We are gifted and we can make other people happy by making portraits for them or selling our creations.

Best wishes - Jolanta

Congrats on your marvelous success. However, I do not believe in luck. I love that saying that goes...The secret to success is to pray like it all depends on God...and then Work like it all depends on you. We all eventually reap what we sow. Enjoy the harvest Jolanta

Thank you Surreal - you so kind!

Beach Baby you are right. I love this saying. Success always takes a hard work but it is much easier to work hard if you love what you are doing.
Thank you
