This is in the Church Street Inn in Charleston, SC. It's in a stairwell, and there's a huge old fountain in the center of the floor, so it was hard to get good pictures, and then my flash didn't work... anyhow, these photos will give you an idea of it.

The owners wanted something that looked like the Lowcountry, with live oaks, Spanish moss, marsh, and flowers. Since there are many walled gardens in Charleston, I incorporated that idea and used a brick wall theme all the way around the stairwell to tie it in to the architecture, and then the view through the opening to incorporate all the other stuff.

This is so neat, Ruth. I know you may have answered this before but what medium do you use to paint the murals? It looks like fresco.

Ruth....

You really captured the low country! I spent many summers in Charleston...I was dating a guy from there...we attended Ringling together.

Your work is so beautiful....the coloring on the bricks....the whole mural....

Thank you for sharing!
