I really like the brush strokes
I think there is too much warmth with the yellow for me to feel the cold. I can see the hunger though.

I like the van Gogh-esque nature of this work. But while I like the way the yellow pulls the figure out, it detracts from the cold feel off the subjects posture.

I like the pose, I have not been sure how I see this,
the colors are great, a little too dark......but that might be the photo. sorry I cant be more specific. just want ed to say hi, and I like that you are going in different directions like this.

thanks all

.. the object was that the world is a real nice place whtih pleanty of warmth (yellows, but some sit in the middle of it with nothing and suffer .. ie dark and complimentary cold colors .. again .. just experimenting and I do appreciate the comments as they help me understand what the viewer sees in comparison to what I think I am presenting.

I see what you wanted to convey now. I think it works rather nicely like now...but that wasn't my first reaction ;) Then again, that was just my one opinion.

Yup, he looks cold, even with the background. I think it's the knuckles that do it.
Oooo, makes me feel shivery cold!

This is really really nice Wayne.

The figure is very well done. Solid, well porportioned, great handling of perspective. My favorite part is the knees. :)

Background is dynamic! I too didn't "feel the cold".. have the impression that he/she is sitting in front of a raging forest fire. Threatening, dangerous. So I guess I'm also not getting the feeling of warm and safety either. But that's not necessarily bad.. just different from your intention. ;)
