MY COMMENTS:
The way I work.
I try to paint as less possible with layers.
Direct to the essence of it.
I start on a choosen place to start and I work around of it over the paper, trying to give directly the right color and the correct value for the light and darks in the picture.
A also paint the background at the same time.

Once I finished the whole picture I go over it again to deepen the colors, only where necessery.
I thank you all for your reply's.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I am interested how the forum react on a watercolor painting from a Belgium artist

Sonja,

It's LOVELY! I especially like how you captured the light and cantrasted it with good darks with very little strokes. How big is this portrait and how long did it take you?

Hi Sonja:
Your technique is wonderful,, and the look on her face is priceless. I do enjoy on occasion the washed look around the image, as this tends to draw ( no pun intended) the viewers eyes immediately into what you feel people will focus on,,which for me is her eyes and lovely smile. Great job,,,enjoyed seeing it and keep up the great work.....frankie

and I would never have known she was Belgian unless she opened her mouth. ;)
I love the progress shots. They catch me every time and it is like not knowing the ending ... I can't put it down until it is done.
You lured me in and I am very satisfied.

Very very lovely... my own watercolor portraits are soooooo "exacting" that I truly enjoy seeing someone who can accomplish this loose and fresh look. Congrats on a job well done !! Carol
