View Full Version : 'til the cows come home

10-24-2010, 04:49 PM
I needed to do a black & white themed painting for a show and got to thinking about home & heritage and what that means to me. I was thinking of friends and family across the globe and wishing the world was a little smaller, when somehow, these cows wandered across my canvas.

36x12 on gallery wrapped canvas.

Yes Elaine, you caught me - I did change my text (didn't want to make it too obvious!) Thanks for the nice comments!

Aren't you the clever one with the continents hidden in there. Charming piece.

Coralie, how could you make those poor cows walk all the way from Taranaki?
At least they know where they're going with their maps!!  Good luck with the show!

Wonderful, clever, unusual , fantastic.
Thanks to Idylbrush I now see the continents.

Thanks Howard - good eye!
Margaret, I think Taranaki can spare a few cows, besides, these girls have obviously "beefed up" for the journey. At least they seem undeterred by the snow (unlike myself!)
Thanks for the generous comments Purple!

Oh yay this makes me happy.

Aren't you the clever one with the continents hidden in there. Charming piece.

I admit I had to scroll back up because I had not noticed this on first glance. I was admiring how each skull/face was unique :)

Thanks MrsG - glad you like it!
Thanks Gayle! I think they've been taking turns, although Miss NA certainly looks a confident leader!
Thanks EP, that's exactly the response I was hoping for!

they look very well fed, I like this piece, a different way to see cows in a field.

Very Cool, very Clever, and very Coralie!!! :D

Bell, thanks so much for the great comment & the link ....hmm... interesting!
Robert, Arl, & Elinor, thanks so much for the positive feedback!
Nayana, they are indeed very sturdy cows. As a kid I remember a long winding stream of cows walking towards the shed for milking - always impressed me how orderly they were.
Deb, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
vmrs & Chris, thankyou! I really appreciate the comments.

Personally, think "Worldly Cows" be a better title... :D

10-27-2010, 05:05 PM
the subject suits so well the format!delightful work!!

Chammi & Maureen, thanks so much. So glad this induced a smile!
Gary & Ian, I really appreciate your kudos, thank you!
Robert, I actually had thought of that title, but didn't want to be too obvious. I kind of hoped that the placement of the continents would be a secondary surprise.
Thanks Clem! I've had this canvas for awhile & always thought I'd use it vertically - but the cows had other plans!
