I saw so many I liked and with all of Friday to play it's been Ggggrrrrr8!

Lots of chances to do lots....

Becuse I used my camera I had to wait to upload the 2hr pic late last night so I've only posted the river now as my PC was off....

The others were under 2 hours.....

2Hour photo (as it was taped to a board)

Amble du Fond River

2 hour progress:

Finished:

'Amble Du Fond River at Eau Claire'
12" x 9" on Royal Langnickel watercolour paper
White Knights Watercolour paans and white gouache
Total Time 3hr 30

I'm still using this crappy chep Royal Langnickel wc paper. When using pencils it falls to bits. In some cases it can barely take brushing and glazing with brushes!

This next one was fun...
My colour printer cartridge is low and I had to guess the colours from a poor print out. So the colours are somewhat imaginary.

'Knobbly Gourds'
A5 Daler Rowney Heavyweight Drawing Paper 220gsm
Derwent Inktense pencils
Time 1hr 45 min
http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/23-Oct-2010/179312-WDE_22_Oct_10_-_Fin_Gourds.jpg

Then I wanted to do somethign a little different... still on that crappy paper though that kept tearing and some of the 'blur' on this is due to blobs of scratched up paper... I can't beleive they call it watercolour paper when it goes soggy when wet!

Anyway... I wanted to experiment with my new watercolour pencils.... It was ok for the washes and foliage but I wasnt' sure what to do with the foregound for road and grass texture.
I had to use Derwent Inktense for the bloke over the top of the landscape so it would be deep and opaque.

.....
This is an amalgamation of 2 refs.. the 'voyager' statue coems to life and instead of a walking stick he picks up a shovel and starts to plant roadside conifers........

''Voyager Planting Trees in Eau CLaire"
12" x 9" 190 gsm wc paper
Faber Castell Eco-grip Aquarelle pencils
Derwent Inktense Pencils
1 hr 45m

I plan to do a couple more yet.......

Thanks for calling please call again :)

Bold sketches, Lin. The river picture is very successful. Fine rendering of the moving water and a real outdoors feel to it.

Love them all Lin, but my fav is the river, your waterfall is perfect along with the colours, and those gourds are wonderful and altho I don't think the voyageurs were into farming  it's a great addition to a lovely scene

??
Hi Ben
Carol? I'm Lin or ORC :P

Jean - I dont' think he was so much farming... he just stopped to plant a tree.... for some mysterious reason... thought it would add some mystery.. like 'where did he come by the tree', 'why does he carry a shovel with him?' and 'why did he plant the tree at the roadside?' A picture that tells a story for hte viewer to discover or invent.

thanks all - glad you like what I've done so far.. now I'm back from the hospital I'm going to sketch another and add it on.

Here is my last for this week. A free hand drawing with a mechanical pencil in my sketchbook. Wanted to do something to relax and chill. Was rather slow with it but I think the meds from this morning are still affecting me even though I'fve had a kip.

I don't do a lot in monochrome but I couldnt' be bothered to get loads of stuff out. I was originally only going to outline in pencil then colour in Derwent Drawing but just kept going.....

Lovely paintings. I especially love the first one with the water. I think the monochrome really suits Mr. Thomson. Looks great.
