My wife commissioned a Halloween painting for our foyer. This one is darker than she wanted. I'd love to know what you guys think. I'll be doing another one soon I hope.

'tis moody for sure ... would like to see some spiders and bats and things too .... and one thing strikes me ... that the tree line becomes the arm line of the scare crow and then continues the tree line ... if those elements weren't so congruous i think it would have less tension ... and upon a second look, another suggestion ... rather than a light horizon (lit from ??), how about a halo of light around the moon instead? ....

I like it. It is mysterious - the sky is great.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate the complements.

@Violet - I noticed the arms and tree line were close. I was aiming to use the tree line to guide the eye as the scarecrow is the focal point. I may have ended up with them kissing instead. Good point on the light in the background. This is actually my first night time piece so I'm used to some sort of sunset/rise. After the fact, I was hoping maybe that would come across as maybe the very end of twilight. Next time I'll try making the moon the only light source.

No. This is actually the first she's asked for and the first I've ever done for a specific holiday. I'm planning another fall related one after this.

Scarecrows freak me out. So I think it's quite spooky enough!
