if you were to do a series of these, i think a fun one would be to make a circle about 5/8 mermaid & 3/8 fish, using a Klimt style with her hair..
not to say i dislike this one, just that this was the first thought i had http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif
i think she needs a little slice of neck, and her ribcage would poke out a bit more being arched out like that (i'm a huge fan of ribcages, pelvic bones and necks.. they're all elements i'm picky about).
what might be cool is to see a little of her right hip (her real right) in a slight twist (that would give you the pelvic bone, but alas! she has no PELVIS because she's a MERMAID!).
where is your light source coming from?
that's it for now http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

mmm,I can see a scuplture in this.... but my first impression was that the fish was tickling her ribs..I agree he could be turned a little but not enough to destroy the 'life circle' you have there.Nice image with lots of potential for a 'fantastical' theme set.

Thankyou so much, i finally made it!
I then came over to your file and found your work..it is so brave!! I love it. Makes my poor old dog look dull. but to each there own.

Sandy..yes..that was one idea, turning the fish around..//Kay..yes I was wondering about how mermaids reproduce??..maybe yes on the showing a touch of neck..good point about the light source..I did make the right side of the fish as in shadow..but was not so specifis about it in the mermaid..
..as far as a series goes..I am thinking to do another mermaid but with a harp instead of a fish....and to use a larger canvas

Im only having a bit difficulty looking
at the fishes head. Is his mouth in the mermaids hair? Very interesting painting.
very symbolic. like the flow of the mermaid
and the fish.

I'm just wondering what the feather is about?

my 1st thought was to turn the fish around and make the tail start out as the mermaid's hair and then 'fade' into the fish.
