I was up in the Sierras over the weekend doing a bit of flyfishing. I happened to find an old discarded fly reel buried in the freestone & sediment. With just a bit of current, it revealed a beautiful patina.

Now, I'm of the mind that One man's trash is another man's treasure.... With a pine twig form the yard, I now have a very unique business card holder fro my display.

And now that I think about it, all those circles in the reel holder, plus a rod, close up, would make a terrific almost-abstract lino-cut.

Nice card holder.

As for one man's trash, I wept the other day. A friend has just finished a couple of beautiful sculptures in avocado wood. Wonderful grain. Stunning look. I didn't know the wood looked so good when polished. Round here, it's firewood. :-(

I didn't read the text, I thought this was a wheel rim and couldn't wrap my mind around the HUGE business card you had. DUH!

Fly reel made a lot more sense and works very well for the work you do too!
