How Lovely!!

Great work guys, those bead rings are a super design, bet they sell well.

LJ, I love the lace effect of the necklaces. Does your camera have a macro setting, it might help to get clear close-ups, I'd love to see the detail properly.

I borrowed camera it takes better pics than my own but still not great for jewelery, hoping Santa brings a good digital to a lawn jockey this year! I seem to lose quality in resizing the files.

Neil and Linda, I love your rings!

LJ, I love what I see! I do wish I could see more closely. They sort of remind me of lace collars.

Kate, Those are all lovely, but the pink bracelet and green earrings really jump out at me! Beautiful!

Your work is lovely ladies. Here is some stuff I've been doing lately.

A 14.75 inch collar of seed beads and iridescent tri-cuts. I may add some swags. It was a custom piece that the woman changed her mind on.
Lapis-lazuli chips and lapis and nickle silver components from an old Persian belly dancer's belt.
Aventurine, mop, abalone, seed beads.....fooling around...it didn't end up like this, as you can see by the earrings below.
Aventurine, malachite, MOP, seed beads, charlottes

One Bead At A Time~

Sorry! I want to try to get a better photo of the collar to show up:)http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/25-Oct-2010/52319-mad_latina.jpg
It looks better close up!

This piece reuses the antique steel cuts and black glass charlottes from a purse that was beyond repair. The buttons are steel too. A friend gave me the suggestion "Dark Lady" for a name...what do you think?

10-26-2010, 06:56 PM
Cyndi, that piece is almost too pretty to wear! I know I'd want it on display anytime it wasn't displayed on me!

LOL! Actually Sandy, it's almost too HEAVY to wear ;)

It's a necklace that was made from the steel-cuts off an antique bag :) It took about 45 hours.

Do you need to be a bit Ocd to be good beaders, jewellers or artists
I think Dark Lady is a lovely name Cyndi.I love naming my pieces too mostly the necklaces. My daughter informed me that styles are changing and it is not correct to wear dangle earrings with a necklace unless it is only a chain . Fancy beaded necklaces can be worn with small earrings only. Has anyone heard of that ?

LOL! I don't pay a whole lot of attention to fashion advice like that, other than to not want my special pieces to compete with each other. So if one is ornate, the rest will be plain...usually ;)

11-01-2010, 06:09 PM
That is incredible Cyndi, I love it. If it is very heavy would you be better off having something thicker than a chain at the back, or having something heavy in the centre back to balance the weight? Or even a way of attaching the loops to a garment so the load is spread.

Saucywench, those pieces are beautiful, especially the lapis one, quite a statement there.

Kate, you have been busy, lovely work, that bird necklace is particularly charming.

Normally that would be exactly what I'd do, Claire, but the weight is really well-distributed and doesn't pull on the back of your neck at all. The backing fabric tends to "stick" slightly to you, so the load actually is spread. That said, it's still HEAVY! :)

Couldn't see a November S&T so I'll post them here:

Here are my two newest pieces. Winter Cardinals earrings and Cat Cameo pendant.

The cardinal beads are carved from basswood and painted with acrylic. The loop is howlite beads. The dangle is green glass and silver bead.

The cat is carved from basswood and stained. The background for the cat is a thin slice of tagua nut I smoothed and polished with several grits of sandpaper.

Kate - these are all nice. I especially like #1, 3 & 9

Kitaye - Did you carve the birds and the cat? You did a great job! That's a lot of handwork. I looked at your Etsy site. I see that you did carve the cardinals and the cat. I especially like the photo of the rooster on your site.

Thanks for looking. Yes, I carve all the wood pieces for my work, and slice and polish the tagua nut as well. All other pieces I purchase.
