Phew, I have been working on these auctions since yesterday! Trying to improve the photos, but ebay wouldn't let me change the pictures...anyway, for what it's worth, here they are!

I wanted to thank everyone for answering all my many newbie questions. I know the pictures are pretty bad, but at least they are up there!

This is also a test to see if the link in my signature line works...thanks Val!!!

For some reason, I could only see the photos of the last listing. They looked great though! Do any of you "e-bay veterans" know what is going on with Patti's pics?

Patti,
Your auctions and beads look wonderful! I was able to see all of your pictures. It's hard to believe these are your first bead auctions.

I was able to see all the photos.

They seemed a bit dark to me but it might be my computer??

I think the auctions look great.

A helpful hint with posting picts on Ebay........EBAY photo system SUCKS(sorry for the langauge). LOL! They are awful, not just because youhave to pay for them, but they seem to make everything so small you can hardly see the details!

If you have any way of hosting your picts on your own website or any other server so you can hotlink your own picts you can use this simple html code to post picts in your description:

<img src="http://www.yourserver.com/yourimagename.jpg>

Then of course just replace www.yourserver.com with the real name of yours and same with the yourimagename.jpg

This will get you out of paying for mulitple picts from Ebay as well as being able to easily go in and edit them if you so desire.

If you want to see an example of how this looks, you can view one of my auctions by using the link below. By putting the picts into the description you can get better quality and bigger picts as well as several picts in there, as many as you would like even!

I REALLY LOVE your sets: Autumn Jewels, and Silvered EDP and Amber! WOW!! I hope you get tons of bids!

Patti, Auctions look great!

Here try this link instead for your signature line:

my ebay auctions (http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=magicfirebeads)

Is this one right, html gurus? Val

edit: well it must be right, as it showed the correct link, but not the code! I'll PM it to you now. (add it to 'edit profile' paste into 'signature box' and click 'submit')

Only thing I noticed is that Tripod doesn't like to share bandwidth so you cannot post links to photos on a Tripod site. Any pictures within the auction description told me it was a Tripod link until I scrolled to the bottom then the ebay pics showed up. You might want to store your photos somewhere else if you're going to link them in your auctions.

Ah, I didn't know that! Yes, I had noticed that the original pics were too dark, and ebay wouldn't let me delete or change them, so I lightened them up, posted them on tripod and tried to link from there with html. The weird thing is, I know I published the tripod website, but when I try to bring it up it keeps saying webpage not found. I also couldn't figure out how to get back to it. I didn't know that you couldn't link photos from tripod.

I had the photos on picturetrail too, but they only let me see 3 URL's of the pictures for free; to see the rest I would have to upgrade my account for $20, and I couldn't really see doing that when I've paid for a whole year of website hosting at iPowerweb. The problem is, I don't have a clue what to do with my account at iPowerweb, so I've never done a thing with it! Sad, isn't it? And I'm a computer specialist, too!

I can see I need to work on my photo setup. At least I finally got the camera manual out and figured out how to do macro mode!

Anyway, thanks for your feedback everyone! I have been playing around with these beads for weeks, trying to get my courage up and put them on ebay. :) And thanks, Valorie, for sending me the code for the "my ebay auctions" link!!

You were probably looking at them at the same time that I had gone back and was trying to revise them yet again...kept trying to get those better pics in there!

Patti,

These are great beads!

Hard to believe that these are your first auctions. Southwest Sushi has a very south-of-the-border feel to it, Silvered EDP looks great (how come my EDP never looks like that?), and I love Autumn Jewels!

Thanks, you guys made my day! This has been a rough week and I really needed it.

My EDP didn't used to look like that either...I have to credit !ngrid for helping me understand how to work with EDP. The silvered EDP set is made with silvered EDP stringer on top of regular EDP dots....not too original, actually, but I loved how it looked with the new sage green transparent and amber. And the regular EDP is cooperating much better with me these days, too!

I think the autumn jewels set is my favorite; also the most recent! I'm definitely making more of those...and I hope I can get some more matched pairs for the earing exchange. I have to admit I am dyslexic when it comes to putting on the dots...I had several of them that were ruined when some of the dots were to close to each other and melted together...

Thanks,
Patti

Patti,

Your auctions look excellent. The pix look great, clear bright, sharp and large with a variety of angles. A+!

Good luck,

I would have to upgrade my account for $20, and I couldn't really see doing that when I've paid for a whole year of website hosting at iPowerweb. The problem is, I don't have a clue what to do with my account at iPowerweb, so I've never done a thing with it!

Do you have an FTP program or in the process of creating your site for iPowerweb? I am building my site right now and importing paypal shopping cart for home furnishings. I just bought swish (its faster than flash) and am creating some great animated graphics for my logos and image mapping. If you need any html help or anything just email me. I know html, javascript, cgi's, and alot of graphic progs.

I would have to check iPowerweb but I know some hosts dont like linking to high bandwidth sites like ebay. I know cause I was just browsing for a high bandwidth host to host my pics and site.

Very beautiful beads by the way!

O.k. none of the stuff Jacinda said made a bit of sense to me.:D
Of course I'm hoping she will help me too but in the meantime...
I upload my pics. (after touchups) to snapfish.com
I have had great luck with them with no problems and it's free. I have had 8 pics. in one listing with no problems.

Love your beads! I hope they make you big bucks!

Thank you Tracey for the recommendation, I'll try Snapfish! I can still go back and add more pictures as long as there are no bids, which I imagine is the case...;)

Thank you too Jacinda! I have Dreamweaver 4 with Fireworks, and also PSP 6 among others. I just have a mental block when it comes to trying to use them. And the mention of ftp and all that makes my brain shut down!! :D I can't explain it, because I am otherwise computer literate; I run a computer lab, for heaven's sake. If I had these programs for a Mac I probably could have tried them out at work and had them figured out by now, but I have Windoze at home and just can't seem to make myself sit down and figure them out.

I really don't know where to start with the website. But I'm thinking I should create a simple website with Dreamweaver, then figure out how to publish it to the web...then work on the fancier stuff. Maybe a showcase/gallery/about me-type website at first.

Thanks for your offer of help, but I wouldn't even know what to ask! :D

Patti-
I use frontpage and Dreamweaver. I never upload my pages with their tools tho. I just save the page and use a FTP prog or the host's uploader to post the pages. Just make sure the pics within the page have been uploaded to the host and has the correct url linking to them on your page.

It is easier to make a format for your page and then gradually add on.
Your mind will go wild when you sit back and think of ways to create your page. Good Luck!:)

Tracey- If ya need any help or anything just email me.

Hi All:

My first round of auctions weren't too successful, so I'm trying again.

I have a question for Tracey:

I put my photos up on Snapfish, and when I link to them they don't show up! Help! How do I get the URL for the photos?

I search the Snapfish website and can't find instructions anywhere. If I am looking at the photo album, and right click on the photo thumbnail and then click on properties, I get gibberish. If I click on "copy shortcut" I get something that I thought would work, but it didn't.

If I click on the photo thumbnail, view the photo, and right click on it, I don't get the copy shortcut option. Clicking on properties still gets me gibberish.

I am very frustrated now. I can't use picturetrail unless I cough up $20, tripod and snapfish aren't working...what else is out there?

Thanks!
-Patti
