I would like to try watercolor on Mi-Teints pastel paper, highlighted when dry with soft pastel. Do I stretch this paper wet as in watercolor paper or will it not hold up to that?

Generally speaking, Mi Teintes doesn't hold up well to water; I don't know anyone who's tried stretching it though. However, why not try it yourself and let us know if you were successful? :)

I can't see it being successful - given that it must have looser fibres than most WC paper...so, being the miser I am - I would try a small test piece, then I could still use the remainder if disaster struck.

I find that pastel sticks quite well to watercolour paint anyway especially for just a few hilights...

:) Well, as I live and breathe!!! I am shocked at this because all of us should experiment and should read!! There is an artist in the UK that is wonderful, in fact a lot of them are!! But I am thinking now of two who could answer this delema wonderfully-----they are RAy Balkwell and Aronold Lowery!!!
Anyhow, from my won experiments I do know you can strech Canson just like watercolor paper, as it is 98 wt. with wonderful results. Seriously. I know as I have. And you can paint on it with watercolor, gouche, arcrlyic paint, and you can do a pastel drawing and wash it with alchohol!!!! REally you can, I have done it. Its nice to have your paper streched at the time so it can dry flat and be easier to use. Its only paper and time, so try it. Its a good thing. (sorry about misspelling)
I will show you one I stretched, drew on with Nupastel #244, washed in achohol, then finnished in pastel, local colors.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/04-Oct-2010/128302-lake_rocks.jpg Not great, as I am still learning----always learning. Please try it! I mean, Streching your Canson and then painting on it. Balkwell does it so well, its beautiful. He used a warm cream colored canson and does the most wonderful skies on it! The he may add gouche or pastel to finnish. Its so interesting, beautiful and inviting. Please go ahead and give it a go!
