I done this portrait of my brother-in-law last night and wanted to get some feed-back on it. It was done on an 8.5" x 11" sketch pad using an ebony layout pencil.

Hi Jason
you have gotten the shapes of the face and features and proportions nicely..I would suggest using less "line"..and more of a shading technique..use lights (basically the paper) and darks to define the areas..use the actual line to highlight an area not surround it..I was shown a exercise; draw an egg using no line, include shadow of egg..
hope this helps,
kemshmi

YOu've got a good hand, but read more about values concerning the human face. The portrait lacks the shape. It's really a good stuff for a mini-lesson.
