I'm sold on the realistic effect of the "Oscar's Finest Watercolor" filter in Photobrush. It seems to give the softest colors that make the effect work. I did this one as before: first in Photoshop with the dry brush filter then imported it into Photobrush for the "Oscar" addition, then back into Photoshop as a new layer over the dry brush layer with some curves and sharpening adjustment. A little judicious burning and dodging here and there completed it.

It doesn't seem to work as well starting with the image in Photobrush... the dry brush needs to be first, I think. Also, it's much more effective in larger sizes, such as the 707 x 528 size I use for a desktop wallpaper image instead of the 500 pixel width I have to use here.

Here's something I hadn't tried, but I like the effect. I ran the above photo back through Photobrush and used the "aged photo" filter under "Stylized", and then painted some color back in using Photoshop. The "aged photo" filter gives you a yellow effect, so if you want color, you'll have to paint it back in. Still, it creates a different and unusual effect.

Love the first one! The second one is quite different, as you say, but still appealing! Good work!
