I set up to paint this scene in a quiet spot, and about a half hour into my painting a couple with their small child set up just to the right of this waterfall, across the creek to go fishing. They made a fair amount of noise and were casting their poles my direction. :( I sped up my painting as much as possible to keep from being distracted. My trusty dog barked at them some.... I got rather irritated... but didn't say anything, as the park is public. My wife says it improved my painting, haha.

Start. Sketch in pencil, then brushed most of it off. I pretinted the canvas panel with a homemade umberish color. These are linen panels primed with Alkyd, purchased from windriverarts.com. They are more absorbent than normal acrylic primed canvas.

The challenge for me here was the light kept moving across the rocks, and portraying the lively water. I found myself getting caught up in details of the rocks, they are so varied. I filled in the background really quickly when I ran short of time.

I'd appreciate any comments or critique.
